Post subject: | Latest Video Cards and Monitors - Compatibility |
Newbie here - maybe a dumb question, but... Been bugging me for a while. Most new monitors have HDMI and Display Port Inputs, yet all the latest graphics cards appear to have only DVI's and one Display Port (or/and 1x HDMI) output. Why are they not making the cards with 3 HDMI or 3 Display port outputs so we can have 3 direct cable connections to 3 HDMI or DP - enabled monitors ? Hate having to use adapters to make it all work on Triple-Monitor setups (which appears to be current dominant gaming setup) Is it a technical thing ? Thanks if anyone can offer a tech reason.. |

The GTX 980 has 3 DisplayPort connections. |

thanks for that info, I didn't know that. about to upgrade older HD 5770 card for something better to work with 3xASUS VN279QL Triple monitor setup, might consider that card. Assume NVIDIA Surround has the same functions as Eyefinity for triple screen, I've only ever used AMD's version ? |

Update - Thanks Cybereality for suggestion to get me on best pate. Bought ASUS GTX-960 today, not high-end but perfectly good for racing games and 3xDisplay Port outputs, so now a nice clean installation. Have read not so good things about this card, but for the price point of $210 and my lower usage - it works just great. NVIDIA Surround is just as good as Eyefinity for setup and performance. Thanks again.. Kev |
