Post subject:  Yamakasi Catleap 2560X1440

I've been lurking around wsgf for quite a while. I keep thinking I'll make the leap to 2d Surround or Eyefinity but I keep balking at a monitor purchase. I was searching for affordable monitors and I came up with the Yamakasi Catleap 2b 27" 2560X1440 monitor. Any opinions on this monitor? Specifically wondering how it would operate for wsg. The popularity appears to come from the fact that the price is so low plus it appears you can overclock the monitor up to 120 Hz in some cases. Just curious. Thank you.

Post subject:  Running EF at 120Hz, isn't

Running EF at 120Hz, isn't always quite as simple as it seems, but all in all those monitors seem really good. I would of bought one but I am a bit worried about lack of guarantee of no dead pixels/ backlight bleed. I think I personally might be better getting a Hazro (same monitor, UK manufacturer, more expensive). But if you have the cash why not, if you don't mind taking a bit of a risk.

I haven't seen them running at 120Hz, but 100Hz maybe, and no one knows the effects what running the electronics so much above rated refresh rates are.

And of course, it will only update the speed it sends signals to the screen, it will not increase the response time at all :P

The guarantee worries me as well. I was looking at the specs and thinking 'wow' but I just can't do it. I'm too old to jump on a deal like this. lol ;)

Stick to the maxim; "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is." ;)

I've seen a lot of excitement about those monitors, but I'm still sceptical. Running a monitor that far out of spec gives me some concern.

Post subject:  I got one of the regular

I got one of the regular (single DVI input) ones for under $400 off eBay with a eBay Square Trade 3 years warranty a few weeks ago. Arrived in less than a week. don't care about dead pixel with such a dense display but was glad that there was no stuck bright pixel (would be much more distracting). No OSD so all adjustment have to be made from the GPU (but stock setting looks pretty good already). The stand is plastic and wobbles a bit but is fine as long as you have it on a solid flat surface.Glossy display but even in my office with 3 overhead fluorescent and 2 windows (shaded), the reflection is not really noticeable except on dark color background.

The display looks great. It beat out the U2405 and U2407 at the office hands down. Even my U2709 kinda pales in comparison. I was going to get the U2711 but wasn't about to pay $800 again after my U2709 developed vertical line soon after the warranty ran out. I like it so much that I just bought the Crossover 2720MDP Pivot (wants one with a Display Port) to replace the U2709 at home. I should have it in a few days. Leave a note here if you have questions and I'll reply best I can.

There is a organized group buy going on now for the Q270 100hz+ (it require a older control board that has since been phased out on production units) so they placed an custom build order. Read about it here:
