Post subject: | Please help me choose parts for a new gaming rig build to drive 7560x1440 resolution |
I'm going the surround gaming, 3-monitor route, for a total resolution of 7680x1440 (3 27" monitors). I am leaning toward a trifire AMD solution for my GPUs- 1 HD6990 and 1 6970, so I'll need a motherboard that places plenty of space between PCI slots. My budget is whatever it takes. Ha ha. Well, only sort of. It's not endless, but I am willing to spend $2000 and up for everything (monitors not included). Overclocking welcome, so gear that supports that is a good thing. Not sure I want to deal with watercooling, so hopefully I won't run into temps that require it. Timeframe is before Christmas, so no waiting until Q1 next year. LAstly, I am hoping this system will "have legs"- I last built a gaming system in late 2005 and, with the exception of swapping out a video card, it lasted me quite well until today (and I gamed using a 30" monitor at 2560x1600). Thinking about this Cooler Master for the case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...0Trooper%20ATX Thanks all. |

Post subject: | Well...I have been looking |
Well... I have been looking for different configurations (trifire was the perfect one for me, after having a look the article on hardopc web page) but just for gaming trimonitor @5760x1080. My conclussion has been, after having a look on average FPS, that I´ll wait for the new X79 and new gen i7-3xxxK and over all: PCIe3.0. Nowadays there is not enough technology to play Ultra trimonitor... If you consider gaming at that huge resolution , at least 3GB of ram per card sure it will be needed and sure you´ll need a x16/x8/x8 (have a look on Asus Work Station SuperComputer, which allows x16/x16/x16). The bigger is the resolution, the more noticeable are the differences in PCIe slots speeds. CPU, I would recommend to you a 1366 slot with an X58 chipset. An i7990X (top of the tops veery and expensive, I think an OC i7960 could handle those GPUs for 230euros ;) ). I don´t know about liquid cooling. I have got the H80 because its an entire kit! :) Here in Spain... for a normal buyer (without "friends" placed in computer stores), that rig will cost 530euros each gtx580, 400euros the mobo, 900euros the extreme CPU!! I have just bought an 1250W OCZ ZX series to power my future tri-sli rig for 200euros... Plus the RAM (8GB max in my opinion, 1366 I think is tri-channel so 6GB). An SSD coud be interesting (in my case, wow textures were loaded really fast, and I am gaming 1680x1050 currently!!!) Which components coud be kept for the new monster!??! ;) Regards man. |
