Hi all, I want to buy 3 monitors for eyefinity and was thinking about getting this one: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236052 Is this a good choice? ANy others that you guys would recommend instead for about the same price. I am looking for something 24" or smaller. I am going to be running them on my radeon hd 5850. Thanks all |

:welcome I haven't read reviews of this screen or seen it in person unfortunately. However, I checked the specs and also looked at the user feedback as found on the newegg page:
Its a TN panel, which means that you would have issues with the screens if you run them in portrait due to the viewing angles, but they have a decent landscape angle. Even though there were a good feedback in running this in Eyefinity, I would still check reviews about the anti-reflective abilities of this and other screens you consider. Some TN's are very glossy and can reflect all light around you, which is especially annoying when you have 3 of them. Here's WSGF's tests of the 5850 with 3 1920x1080 in Eyefinity: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/ATI_Radeon_5850_5830_-_Featured_Review_-_Page_13 And here's the adapter I would recommend you get (which you need for the third screen/DP screen): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999030&cm_re=sapphire-_-14-999-030-_-Product http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=20203&start=0 |

Thanks for the reply. Portrait mode isn't very important to me. I was just looking at that monitor because the ratings seem to be pretty high on newegg and bezel looks thinner from the pictures than my current monitor (about 23cm). I just need to pick up that adapter as well and I'll be all set. I diid some more searching and it looks like it a matte screen and not a glossy screen. So this mean it probably wouldn't reflect light all around me? |

With 3x ASUS and an adapter, you will be set for Eyefinity. :) Don't know so much about this particular screen as mentioned, but technically it should work well in Eyefinity. A screen with smaller resolution (1680x1050) might have given you more headroom for eyecandy settings and for a screen that is visually better by some measurement, would cost much more. Cheapest I can think of is this (which is significantly more expensive as well): http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=320-9270 The Asus might be as good as any within that priceclass, so if you have read up on it and like what you hear, go for it. :) |
