Atm I use a 40" Samsung LNA650 series Full HDTV gaming @ 1920x1080 res on a GTX 295. Was wondering would I get better visual quality from going from this to a proper gaming monitor like the upcoming Asus 27” PG276 or the Alienware OptX™ AW2310. These still have 1920 x1080 max res, so another question would be, would I get better visual quality from a monitor with higher resolution than 1920x1080?

Well, the same res on a smaller screen will be sharper, and I've still found gaming on an actual monitor better than on a television - Even an HD one.

Get a large monitor from a store and try it out for a couple days...
