Last time I was looking for a new monitor, way back when widescreen gaming was only starting to gain ground, I got great advice from WSGF. Now, however, my old 20in Viewsonic, though an excellent screen, is starting to feel rather small and restrictive. So it's time to change and to step up the size a few notches, and time to again ask advice from the glorius WSGF. :)

24in at 1920x1200 seems to me like the obvious choice. However I would have an itch for an even bigger monitor in the 26in-28in range. Reading through online reviews has not provided many good alternatives there however, so I turn to you.

My #1 candidate for a 24in screen at this point is the HP LP2475W which, although somewhat an ugly duckling in appearance, seems to have the best bang for the buck atm. The question is, however, whether there is some newer and better 24in screen that would fit my budget of 400-600 euros, or whether there indeed is a suitable 25in or larger alternative that I've missed?

In the 24in category specifically, how does the LP2475W really compare to BenQ FP241W and the NEC LCD2490WUXi? I've only read praising reviews of all, so it's hard to figure which one is the better of the lot, or the best value for money.

The chief purpose of the monitor is to display HD movies and games, so high input-lag and low response time monitors are out of the question.

Thanks a bunch in advance!

the HP is a fantastic monitor, as is a U2410 (without tint/ dithering issues) in game mode. Both are "responsive" and connected, and have very high image quality and accuracy

I love my u2410's! Getting my X-rite here in a few days to calibrate them, and they should be 100%.

Don't have U2410 available here unless I'd specifically order it and pay a premium, so the HP would be my choice.

Does anyone know about the Asus VW266H / VK266H 26in screens? The size would interest me a great deal, but I wouldn't want to sacrifice much in terms of panel quality over the LP2475W.

2475w has the same potential green/pink tint issues as the U2410...so check your return/replacement options before ordering.

IMHO -

NEC 2490WUXi > U2410 > LP2475w

Good luck!
