Hey all,

First post from me (so be gentle :P)...I'm wondering if you can help a game developer out...

At work I've got a Geforce 660ti, running 3 identical make/model of monitors.

I'm using the latest nvidia drivers (R331 Game ready), and the layout is set up like this:

Image

When they're not in surround mode, the resolution is fine on each one (1920x1080) ...though I will admit, the one on HDMI looks a little bit blurry, might just be poor HDMI support on Samsung monitors.

Now, when I go tick surround in the nvidia control panel, mostly what happens is the two side monitors (HDMI + DVI-D) turn off. Surround isn't ticked in the control panel. I can't turn on the other two monitors any more in the 'setup multiple displays' menu in the control panel, and if I try to tick them and click apply, the nvidia control panel flickers and does nothing.

gg.

After this, if I reboot, the display is spanned across all 3, but if I try to do anything in nvidia control panel, it crashes.

gg x2.

At this point, if I do a clean install of the R331 drivers, everything is back to normal, but still, no surround.

...so thats problem #1.

The one time I did get it to enable surround, the resolution was not 5760x1080, it was something like 5050x1080 (sorry I cant remember the exact res, but it was lower) and that was the max. res available. 5760x1080 wasn't even in the list.

...that's problem #2.

All I want is for it to run a 5760x1080 surround.

Can any of you guys help at all? I'm sure some of you may have come across such issues with surround, I've been reading a few bits where people have created their own custom resolutions to fix it, sometimes in a inf file so it acts as a driver file etc. Maybe the cables (single link) are the problem? Also, I did look at the (very basic) nvidia guide (http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/how-to-correctly-configure-geforce-gtx-680-surround#2), but that's all basic set up stuff.

I thought best thing to do would be to ask!

Any response is most appreciated!

My first guess is the HDMI connection. I have got samsung monitors and if I use the HDMI port on the monitor itself the monitor behaves differently to if I use display port. So i'd perhaps start by getting an HDMI to DVI adapter/cable so you can use the DVI port on that monitor (or a DP to DVI adapter, thats what i'm currently using).
The problem you're likely encountering is to do with 'sync polarity', this is a lesser known extra requirement for surround, all monitors must operate at the same resolution, colour depth, refresh rate (I think) and (crucially in this case) sync polarity! You'll probably find that using the HDMI port is changing the sync polarity so this will likely be the easiest way to fix it.
