I have had my 5970 for 2yrs and 4 months now. This is a year longer than any other gpu upgrade.

A little background! For 2 years I have doing eyefinity at 5040x1050 with 3x dell p2210's.
This setup has been very good to me but 2 months ago I had a offer to buy a dell u2711 for $575 brand new in box from a guy getting a divorce. (Caught her cheating so very sudden separation) Had 6 of the p2210's as I was getting ready for 5x1 portrait with the 6990 or 7990. Sold 4 of the p2210's and kept 2 for eyefinity with the u2711.

The games that are tough in eyefinity like bf3 (vram), metro 2033 (fps and vram) I play on the u2711 and flight sims and some other games I play on eyefinity.

On to the point of this now! When sitting up my eyefinity the u2711 automatically goes to 1680x1050 and I get my 5040x1050. Then I can still do bezel comp even with the mismatch screens. Works perfectly. The u2711 has a great scalier and eyefinity looks very good like this. Also when playing games you don't even notice the different size screens! (at least I don't!)

I do not use the ati profiles I just use windows key + p and I can go back and forth between eyefinity and extended monitor. Neat thing is the u2711 automatically switches back and forth between 1680x1050 to match my p2210's on the outside and back to 2560x1440 when I go back to extended. Also keeps my bezel comp perfectly.

Finally the question is this! Does nvidia do this as I am thinking heavily of the 680 since one card can do surround now. If the WSGF gets a 680 or anyone here gets one I would love to know this.
I am probably one of the few that does eyefinity on such a mismatch monitor setup but it works great. If it doesn't here I come 7990!

Hi mate,

As far as I am aware Nvidia Surround does NOT support mismatched panel sizes or resolutions, even if you do set the mismatched monitor to run at the same resolution as the other two. I am pretty sure Eyefinity is your only DX11 solution here. Just update to a newer Eyefinity card.

Thanks for the reply! That is what I was thinking also but maybe because nvidia figured out that not everyone wants to sli for surround they went to one card for it. Just hoping that MAYBE they fixed the need for identical monitors for bm and same res for surround etc.

Just was hoping someone here gets one and can try it for me. Thanks again for the quick reply!

If you compare how many Nvidia reviews and how many AMD reviews there are on wsgf... I'm pretty sure you're gonna be dissapointed.

There are rumors that the new nVidia implentation actually lowers your FPS count on the outside monitors if it detects the game is running too low in order to keep FPS fast on the main screen, as WSGF will be the only one to test such a thing I really also hope there is a review here for it!!!

I am doing everything I can to get a pair of cards. If I can't through "normal" means, then I will simply buy a pair, test them and then return them to whatever store I buy them from. I can't afford to buy $1k in video cards simply for testing. I will eat a restocking fee, though.
