Hey guys!
Was digin all day and couldnt find any reasonable answer..
There s the thing - i have DELL UltraSharp U271 monitor 2560 x 1440 and now im getting really exited about the 3 monitor gaming setups it looks really awesome.
But its quite costly to add 2 more UltraSharp 27 and i cant afford it - so was thinking is it possible to link it with aditional - 2x 27inch or 24 inch 1920x1080 and set em as landscape or portrait on both sides.
and how it gonna look my main will still have 2560 x 1440 or ill need to set it down to have 1920x1080 like other 2 mons
or some other suggestions?

tnx guys

What multi-monitor technology are you going to be using? From my understanding it will default to the highest supported resolution. Both Eyefinity and Nvidia Surround require the displays to be running at the same resolution. This requirement does not apply to SoftTH IIRC. This means your 27" monitor will drop down to 1920x1080 like the other 24" monitors. You will be able to use the monitors at their different native resolutions when running in Extended mode.

I would just get the 24's and put them on the sides of the 27 in landscape. If you put the 24's in portrait their 20.92" height will tower over the 27's 13.23" height. If you want a PLP group to line up nicely you need smaller P monitors.

tnx man u saved the day!
I have 2x560gtx so im goin for surround and planing 2 buy 2 extra nice & shiny samsungs S24A859DW - the resolution for those are 1900x1200. So whole picture is dell 27'' - 2560 x 1440 in centrum and 2x 24'' samsungs 1900x1200 on sides.
And as i understand when i play surround its gonna be 3 x 1900x1200.
nice

Before buying the new monitors you should first double check to make sure that the sync polarities match up. Nvidia states that the sync polarity for all monitors must be the same. The sync polarity for your existing Dell U2711H can be found here:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/MONITORS/U2711b/en/ug/about.htm#Specifications

I couldn't find the sync polarity for the Samsung model. You'll probably want to ask the manufacturer about that. You might be able to hack EDID's to get around this limitation (search WSGF for more info), but that seems like a bigger hassle than just buying monitors you know will work. I've never mixed different monitors before so you'll probably want to search the WSGF for more topics on sync polarity.

Edit: You might want to move this topic to the Nvidia Surround section. There are probably more people familiar with running Surround on different monitors over there.
