Get more info about the game and the demo here ... worthplaying.com ... Avatar the Game

The game seems to take the Aspect Ratio from your desktop ...
So in TripleHead the Aspect Ratio is correct but when I ran it on a single screen it took the Aspect Ratio from all 3 screens.

That said ... the FOV for 3 screens is not correct.

Here is how to change it ...

Find this file ... GamerProfile.xml ...
(In this file there are various settings for Aspect Ratio ... I did not change any of them)
On win 7 it is found here ... C:Users*USERNAME*DocumentsMy GamesAvatar Demo
I would imagine for XP it will be a similar ... Avatar Demo ... folder and probably in the ... My Games ... folder in My Documents of Windows XP.

Open it with NotePad or WordPad ...
Find the text ... WidescreenFOV="0"
Change it to ... WidescreenFOV="1"

As you can see the HUD in TripleHead seems to be set for an Aspect Ratio of 16:9.

Screens ...
Click to enlarge ...

WidescreenFOV="0" ...

WidescreenFOV="1" ...

WidescreenFOV="0" ...

WidescreenFOV="1" ...

After some more testing it seems that the FOV is auto adjusted to the aspect ratio if you change the value from 0 to 1 ...

WidescreenFOV="0"
WidescreenFOV="1"

I have edited the original post to reflect this.

It seems that there is more to it than just changing the WidescreenFOV variable because I'm still getting a horribly stretched image.

Have you played with the AspectRatio and ForceAspectRatio variables yet paddy?

EDIT: I just carefully re-read the first post and realized that my image was horribly stretched because of the way my desktop is configured. Sorry for any confusion.

The game shows potential in the demo, I really like that it really is a hostile environment; both the flora and fauna are out to kill you. That's right, killer plants. Don't expect any semblance of plot in the demo though, just you and some dudes plowing through the jungle.

Also, even though every single option was maxed out the game ran smooth as butter at 3840x1024.

As Mobster says ... it does show some potential ...
The jungle environment looks fantastic ... at night it is even better ...
It has a ... Turrok ... Crysis ... Lost Planet ... kinda feel to it ..
There is no crouch which I find odd ... :?

Cloaking "Predator" style ... :P ...

I hope the full game doesn't disappoint.

The game ran pretty good for me too ... that said ...
If you have an SLi system the latest beta drivers (195.55) have a profile for Avatar ... so rename the AvatarDemo.exe to Avatar.exe to get a nice fps boost.
If you are using older drivers you can rename the .exe to farcry2.exe and get a good fps boost too.

Vicious ... check the teaser out for the movie Avatar - ... awesome sauce !
"The teaser registered over four million streams in its first day on the site, shattering the previous record of 1.7 million."
