Hello Folks!

Please forgive me in advance for my "possibly" useless observations.

I have posted in another thread about this but I thought in the interest of a possible solution for me and others, I would start a new thread for clarity.

I am one of the folks who have 3x22" monitors, two of which that don't work at 1680x1050@57HZ. Actually, that is not "quite" correct... I think! Let me explain...

If I change the colour palette to 16-bit (65K colours) before clicking on 1680x1050@57 16:10, it "sort of" works. Again, let me explain...

The Power Desk-SE application shows my resolution as 3840x1024@60Hx, 16 bit but, Windows Display Properties shows 5040by1050 and Monitor Settings - Screen refresh rate is @ 57Hz.

OK, the "main" problem is that the desktop goes beyond the bounds of the 3 displays both horizontally and vertically. BUT, would this not simply be something that could, in theory, be "fixed" somehow?

Please feel free to speculate on this and/or educate me... please!

I have the same problem with my 2 side monitor connected va VGA.

but if I switch their connection to DVI it works fine.

my biggest problem with the firmware is forsingle display gaming that won't work with th2g ,

games can't detect 1920x1200 :( so I have to play at 1680x1050 on a 24" screen

Sorry, I don't mean to be rude (honest), but what has your situation got to do with the topic? You state that your's works when you switch to DVI. I am using Dual DVI and it does "not" work. Did I misunderstand you? If I did, please explain.

Thanks!

Some more observation after getting some assistance from Matrox support...

OK, from the beginning...

When I boot to Windows XP and use "any" nVidia driver in combination with the PowerDeskSE (newest from website) I can see the three new widescreen resolutions, but can't use 5040by1050 because...

the 2 ACER AL2216Ws go blank, but, the ACER AL2223W works.

When I boot to Vista 64 and use the "newest" nVidia driver 178.24 and the Beta version of the PowerDeskSE (available through Matrox support) I can "now" see the three new widescreen resolutions, but can't use 5040by1050 because....

all 3 Acer displays (monitors) go blank.

I have only ONE thing that bothers me about this. Why is it that the ACER AL222W works in Windows XP (at 57Hz) and not in Vista 64. I and all of you are being told that certain monitors will not work at 57Hz. Well, one of mine will, but only in Windows XP???

Comments please!

One final thing! I promise! :D

I just recieved a final e-mail from Matrox Tech Support where it was suggested that I NOT go out and buy new monitors, because Matrox does not "truly" know why some monitors work and others don't. So therefore, they have no way of fixing the problem.

Let's hope that some independant guru genius figures something out! :)

Ouch. That'd explain why they've been so silent about the problems since they introduced these new triplewide modes.
Too bad, I already sold my 1280x1024 monitors to buy 1680x1050 ones :/
