Hi all!

Heres my setup:

Windows Vista 32 bit
AMD XPx2 6000+
3 gigs of memory
Nvidia 8800GT running two 19" LCDs

Unfortunately I dont have another PCI express slot so I bought a Nvidia 6200 OC 256mb PCI card for a 3rd 19" monitor.

I erased all of my old drivers and installed a new Nvidia driver to run all 3 monitors. I checked to first to make sure both cards use the same driver. Everything turns on but the monitor connected to the 6200 PCI card displays very choppy video and causes freezing and reboots.

Can anyone be so kind as to help me get onboard with 3 monitors like the rest of you?

Thanks

Thx..

I'll definately get TH2go sometime down the road as an option for games. Although I dont like that TH2go acts as one big screen when trying to work.

Also..whatever problems I have now with a third monitor im going to have ten fold trying to game with SoftTH.

so the problem is the card and windows, no gaming yet?

when you erase the old driver, did you run driver cleaner?
or maybe it's a problem of vista?

i have winxp
7600gt agp for middle and right monitor
fx5500 pci for left monitor and tv
i drap media player to the left monitor and it display fullscreen on my tv
i never had a problem with that config

Yep.. used driver cleaner pro.

Both video cards show up in display properties and have the same Nvidia driver associated. version 174.74beta Ive tried the latest official Nvidia driver as well.

For example: if Im watching a video in one of two displays using the PCI-Ex16/8800GT it runs smoothly.. If i slide that media player window over to the sole display running off the PCI/6200, The video plays choppy and later turns all the screens black and says:

"display driver stopped responding and has recovered"

Thanks for your help. Vista does look a little suspect.

Not true. SoftTH exists mainly to solve this "problem" - frame buffer syncing not working correctly across multiple GPUs. SoftTH uses hacked files to greatly improve the performance of this process (although performance is still not as good as what you get with the TripleHead2Go). I bet your stuttering and crashing go away when you use SoftTH.

Probably less chance of crashing if you go at 1/10th the speed, pretty much like driving a car.

I've been playing around with softth and oblivion, and performance is quite frankly, horrible.

Oblivion is by no means recent, and it ran great on a single screen. I went from 1920x1080 to 1920x1080+1280x800 sides and performance is now close to slideshow. Even if I drop many settings it doesn't help much.

It also took quite some doing to get softth to work at all, no errors in the debug log beyond a general failed exception. So basically you pick and swap settings at random till it doesn't crash.
