I currently have a 22" widescreen and was originally intending to get a TH2G and another two 22" widescreens and run in 3x1680x1050, however is seems this is impossible unless (until?) Matrox release an update that wil alow this. Having a bit of an experiment today, I found that games in 1280x768 are fine to play and I don't really notice the pixel inerpoaltion at all, so I could get a DTH2G and things would be peachy. However am I right in thinking that my desktop would also display in this resolution? Games like this could handle, browsing the web etc I could not. Is there any way of switching between 'normal' desktop without having to unpluyg everything? |

Yes, this is a pretty simple fix. WARNING: This solution for the analog triplehead2go. Introducing the digital version creates a whole subset of issues that I leave to the reader resolve. Your monitors will need two inputs (usually DVI and VGA). Then get ultramon to speed up the process. Lastly you'll need 4 video ouputs from your computer. What you're going to do is configure two profiles with ultra mon. Hook up one of your outputs to the triplehead adapter. The connect it's outputs the analog inputs of your monitors. You can probably see where this is going. Connect the remaining three DVI connections of your video cards to the inputs of your LCDs. This will be your native resolution desktop environment. From here you configure two shortcuts with UltraMon to quickly switch from the analog, interpolated triplehead mode, to the digital, native resolution of your monitors. Since the inputs turn off the monitors automatically switch inputs when you change modes. Good luck! Hope this is helpful. |

Aha, simple as that :) I have a bunch (I do have 3 I think) of small DVI-VGA adapters that came with various graphics cards I've got over the years, which let you run a VGA monitor from the DVI output of a card. Would I be able to use these on the output-end of the DTH2G? |

I don't have a dth2g so I don't feel comfortale commenting. Just give Matrox a call and they'll be able to help you. But if you're just converting to analog anyway why bother with the digital version? |

From what I can gather, you get a much higher data bandwidth through the DTH2G box and so it can deal with a few more resolutions, including the all-important widescreen resolutions. Am I right in thinking that because the adapters would be on the outputs of the box, the inner workings would still be processing a digital signal? Or do the cards switch their output to analogue if they sense they are connected to an analogue monitor input? |

The bandwidth that can pass through the Analogue or Digital TripleHead2Go hardware is the same. The digital edition has many more modes, both for widescreen support and higher refresh rates for CRT users. DVI-to-VGA adapters can be placed on the three Digital TripleHead2Go outputs to make use of the analogue information in the DVI-I signal. |

not sure if this pic applies and i can't quite remember where i got it from but its saved on my hd. if i recall you need a dual output self switching monitor for this kind of setup and just toggle the mode by switching sli on or off. |
