Does this product work if you only have 2 monitors? I plan on purchasing a third here in the near future, but am curious if this product will work as designed with only 2 monitors attached.

Hi,

TripleHead2Go Digital Edition will support the following dualhead resolutions:

2048x768 @60Hz
2560x1024 @60Hz
2720x768 @60Hz
2880x900 @60Hz
3200x1200 @60Hz
3360x1050 @60Hz
3840x1200 @58Hz

http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/digital/home.php

EDIT: If you plan to purchase a third monitor later, then remember that the maximum resolution of TripleHead2Go is 3840x1024. So, it's not very wise to choose monitors based on these dualhead display modes.

Interesting discrepancy between that table published on the Matrox website and the actual modes offered by the Digital TripleHead2Go software. Here are the available modes listed in my Powerdesk SE when I had a Digital TripleHead2Go installed. The ones marked with an asterisk are compatible with a corresponding triplehead resolution (i.e. just add a third identical monitor and you're good to go).

4:3 and 5:4
3200x1200 @ 60Hz
2560x1024 @ 85 Hz
2560x1024 @ 75 Hz
2560x1024 @ 60Hz*
2560x960 @ 60 Hz
2048x768 @ 85 Hz
2048x768 @ 75 Hz
2048x768 @ 60Hz*
1600x600 @ 85 Hz
1600x600 @ 75 Hz
1600x600 @ 60 Hz*

16:9 and 16:10
3840x1200 @ 60 Hz
3840x1080 @ 60 Hz
3360x1050 @ 60 Hz
2880x900 @ 60 Hz
2720x768 @ 60 Hz*
2560x800 @ 60 Hz*
2560x768 @ 60 Hz*
2560x720 @ 60 Hz*
1600x480 @ 59 Hz

I've emailed Matrox to ask about this discrepancy. There are a few diferrences between the triplehead list on the Matrox site and my PowerDesk SE listings as well, but nothing as bad as the dualhead stuff.

Ok, here's the response from Matrox:

Thank you for your email. We currently only list the most common DualHead and TripleHead resolutions on website. However, we are working to update the list on website and both lists (on the website and PowerDesk) will be equivalent.

So, the list I have posted above is accurate and complete.
