Post subject:  DualHead is it worth it?

Hey.

I'm just pondering. What I have now is a Asus EN8800 Ultra with 2 Samsung 22" screens. Both are connected with DVI.

If I get Matrox DualHead2Go Digital Edition, do I lose in image quality. The box has a VGA D-SUB input and 2 DVI outputs. So what I would have to do is connect my GPU to the box with a VGA-DVI cable of use a converter.

I don't have any experience with these Matrox products so my question is that before mentioned. Do I lose in image quality compared to normal DVI inputs straight from the card.

Also, now I can't play all my games with both screens connected. FSX didn't want to work. Is there a program for using dualview in games. Or how am I going to achieve it.

Daemonius,

The DualHead2Go, be it the analogue or digital version, is really a product designed for laptops (hence the VGA input). If you want to game in dualhead on your system, all you have to do is horizontally span your monitors using your video card drivers. Windows (and thus your games) will then see a screen that is twice as wide as it is now, but the same height. For example, if each of your 22" monitors has a resolution of 1680x1050, Windows will then see a single monitor with a resolution of 3360x1050.

You don't need any additional hardware to do this. However, you will have monitor bezels in the center of your view, which is why there isn't much dual-monitor gaming going on.
