I am thinking about getting 2 22" 2ms Widescreen LCDs and a digital Matrox TH2GO unit. What I would like to do is setup all 3 22" LCDs in Portrait mode and then span the display across them for one large screen. But I have a few problems: 1) Does anyone know a good 22" 2ms Display that can do portait mode, and if not, how can one go about fixing it to do portrait mode. 2) Can you span across displays in portrait mode with TH2GO? |

The current one cannot, but the Digital one *may* (don't take my word for it) |

I dont think you can do that with the TH2GO. And anyway, the native resolutions for 22" widescreen monitors isn't supported by it either. |

The analogue TripleHead2Go can't do portrait monitor orientations. Based on the list of supported resolutions for the digital edition the same would apply. The TripleHead2Go splits an image three ways horizontally, but there is no provision for rotating three images after the split. You can see the maximum dualhead and triplehead resolutions as they relate to GPUs here. |

Hmm, I was wondering about that, I was thinking as long as I keep it in one of the supported modes for TH2G, it would display it properly whether in portrait or landscape. |

You would have to switch the two numbers, as the vertical vs. horizontal pixels would be switched. |

Yes but you should be able to do any mode with a monitor. It is just how it will end up being displayed that is a problem. I have hacked many a driver to support different display modes that it says in the settings. Besides if the max resolution TH2GO can support is 3840x1050, then it should be able to do 2304x1024. |

Remember, the TripleHead2Go pretends it's a monitor to you computer, but it's not really a monitor. For a real monitor, if the max res is 1280x1024, then the monitor is electrically capable of displaying any pixel count lower than that. But the TripleHead2Go only supports certain resolutions, and no resolutions in between. The triplehead resolutions are: 1920x480 2400x600 3072x768 3840x720 3840x768 3840x1024 So say you wanted to run 3 monitors at 768x1024 resolution (i.e. 1024x768 in portrait orientation). That's a triplehead resolution of 1304x1024. It can't be done, because it is not a supported resolution by the TripleHead[i]2Go[i/], end of story. The only way you could have it work is to have support for that resolution from the TripleHead[i]2Go[i/], and until Matrox gives us custom firmware it won't happen. |

Ahh, yes I see. Might have to reverse engineer the drivers for the TH2GO. I did talk to one of their reps and put in a request and reasons for including intermittent resolutions for portrait mode, will have to see what happens. Apparently there have been several requests made for such. |

Right - custom firmware, reverse engineered drivers, whatever - talking to the guts of the T2Go is what is required to get resolutions other than those offered out of the box. Does anyone know if any progress has ever been made along these lines? |
