Post subject:  Here i go... questions :)

Hi,
As i said in mt first post il anoy u guys with couple of questions.
So after reading like 200 posts in 10+ topics about TH2G, some things are still-hmmm i just cant get them (sry)!
So he I go:

1.I got 3xLG204WT (dont ask me why-coz i dont have TH2G still), and geting the thing that TH2G doesnt work good with widescreen monitors and theirs native res (if that has anything 2 do with it)-Should i keep them? I will buy TH2G-better sell and buy 3x21' normal ones :?:

2.Will TH2G digital version make difference to me (my monitors) :?: I really like my LGs and widecreen in general. Is it good to wait for digital edition :?: Is it better to wait for Digital ver. in my case(i want to keep my LGs) :?:

3.I will buy SLI motherboard (P5N32-E SLI prolly) and 8600GTS with some cheap 6/7*** in other slot for SLI. What is Problem in general with SLI setup and TH2G :?: I got it that cable swamping and restarting(differente hardware profiles work?)

4. What is catch with new memory modules that work on high speed (800/900/1000+MGhz) and SLI setup :?: It works faster if memory modules are SLI ready :?: It really works or just some teory marketing thingy :?:

5.Do u hate me for this nab questions :?: Just reading all those topics made me confused about some stuff :!: :)

Thx for help, more q going soon.
Cheers,
Igor Uzelac

Hello Igor

1. Depends on what you intend to use the TH2Go for, IMHO it's main purpose is to play games (or any other 3D-app), because for desktop use you can run 3 monitors by using 2 videocards also.

2. I heard there is no difference in available resolutions

3. Watch out, my friend, you cannot run two different video cards in SLI !!! They have to be the same model! (not sure whether same brand as well but this is most likely the case too). Go check the nvidia SLI guide which can be downloaded @ nvidia.com

4. Saw that as well, not sure if this isn't only some marketing trick. Guess one should go for the fastest possible memory anyway. It seems to me since I have my triple setup that I hit the memory barrier a lot more often and that my swap file rises to levels well above 1 gig very often and usually always when using photoshop or google earth.
So I'm even planning to go to 4 gigs in summer so I can disable the swap file. I have the impression that while running @ 3840x1024, the system has to handle a lot more data then before.

Another thing about SLI: I wanted to buy two 7600GTs for use in SLI mode ..... until I saw a comparison chart with 8800s ... :( then I decided to buy a single 8800GTS and once this becomes insufficient look for a second one. This saves me also from buying just another new PSU and is more powerful. I also went for the 640MB version due to this very large resolution I want to play games.

5. no

Regards,
Danny

Here is some info that might help you with your first two questions ...
Only you will be able to answer the question as to whether you should keep your monitors or not ...

Your monitor is 16:10 ...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The TH2G does not do 16:10 resolutions ...
The only widescreen resolutions it does do are ...

3840 x 720 (triple 1280 x 720) 60Hz ...3 x 16:9
and
3840 x 768 (triple 1280 x 768) 60Hz ... 3 x 15:9

So you will have a distorted image whatever you do.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The new DTH2G has one 16:10 widescreen solution ...

3840 x 800 (triple 1280 x 800) 60Hz ... 3 x 16:10

So using this you will not have a distorted image
... assuming the LG204WT can do 1280 x 800

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In both case for widescreens and TripleHead the resolution is quite low

Digital TH2G info ... http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/digital/home.php
There is a discussion about it here if you are interested in ... http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9421

Correct ... if you are not happy with 3 x 1280 x800 with the new DTH2G.

My LG doesnt support next 3840 x 800 (triple 1280 x 800) 60Hz ... 3 x 16:10 in new TH2G digital :(
Have you tried to run the screens at 1280 x 800 to see what they look like ?

Ah ... ok ... I was just checking that you had checked ... :D

May be you could set up a custom res ... but I do not know how to do this for ATI cards ...

You cannot disable your swapfile because most programs neewd it to run. The swapfile is a slower version of RAM try to run a computer without RAM :D it doesn't work. A computer caches files into the swap file before RAM

hen I decided to buy a single 8800GTS and once this becomes insufficient look for a second one.

It is better to get a single GTX (has also more memory).
