For now I am stuck using my AGP card limited board. I need to get some sleep and not concern myself twith this any longer... Can i run a TH2G on my 6800GT? For reference right now I get 43fps on HL2 Lost Coast on the test run at 1680x1050. Racerx |

You can use TH2G on your 6800GT, but at 3840x1024 don't expect the framerate to be really all that high... :) 2400x600 would be very playable, and 3072x768 would probably just about cope, too... |

Performance isn't linear with pixel count when using triplehead. You might not be too disapointed with HL2 performance, but newer games are going to be a headache. |

I've always wondered what the scaling was between 4:3, 16:10 and TH2Go resolutions. Hopefully I'll be able to do some testing soon. As you increase the FOV, you're often adding more objects in addition to more pixels. |

I have a 6800GT and a P4 at 3Ghz and I agree with the others, Lost Coast is playable at 3072x768. Your CPU being faster it should be even better for you. If I remember correctly I got 42fps in the test run at 3072x768. |

I am using my TH2G with a 6800GT on AGP. I didn't notice an incredible slowness with switching from 1280x1024 (one 19") to the widescreen resolution on most games. I did notice some on HL2, COD2, and Prey, and thus had to turn the settings down a bit. Like stated up above, the newer games are only going to tax it more. Christmas is around the corner though. ;) |

O K so thats a no, maybe, ok, go for it and ithink so??? JK :) That is a bit vague. but I'll probably get it, but now not in a hurry. This is why I have recently switched to a >more< absolute way of testing rather than seat of my pants, "yea its faster" . Now I've been usibng HL2LC stress test. I can post more exact results but I just put an Arctic Cooler NV 5 on my 6800gt . I used Coolbits to OC it. It allows me to go up to 425mhz and have a very smooth FPS. No missing textures etc. No green and red "blotches" Without it, the FPS was rough, and red/green missing spots. Blotches as I call them. Anyway, I can get very usable rates now and testerday it was 45.1 fps. Cooling makes a noticable change in smoothness. I have a new AMD 64 X2 4800 awaiting me from the UPS man today. I'll pop all this in do some more tests and post the data. (including HL2LC pertinates like texture setting, antialiasing etc. which were all set to max. btw). As I recall though the rounded off numbers were (HL2LC @ 1680x1050 all textures max) 35 FPS stock 45.1 FPS best after AC NV5 and OCing GPS regards, racerx |

With everything set to max, 4xaa, I score 33 fps on hl2lc stress test @ 13840x1024. But I believe I am a bit cpu limited. To PS: Its not a direct relationship in th2g bc the objects get stretched at the edges. So there are more objects but not as many as in the center of your view. |

O K so thats a no, maybe, ok, go for it and ithink so???IMO, that's a "go for it." I've used my T2G with a 6800GT @ 3072x768 and all was well in most cases. When frames did go down, I could get them back up by reducing some settings. I'd rather play in triplehead at medium settings than in single screen at high settings. |

Ok, so I did a catch 22. I upgraded extensivly. Upgraded to an SLI/300sata MBoard. Upgraded from a 6800gt to 7900GT. Upgraded from AMD 64 3700 to X2 4800. I'm probably able to run TH2G but the wife says I've spent enough for a while! At least COD2 won't be as choppy @ 16:10 |
