do I have to go into the Battlefield config file to change the native res? or can I force 4800x900 in game?

Same issue here. I cannot determine of the guy in front of me 100meters away is a friend or foe.

This had happen in BETA and is still happening in RETAIL.

Looks like DICE did a really bad job on the QA.

Any1 have a fix for the No Hud in 1 monitor mode? Idk if the newest drivers or not. But since i changed I cant play in 1 monitor without my options menu and the entire ESC menu dissapearing. Cant deploy or switch guns. Very annoying. I'd play on 1 monitor If I could. But I really would like to enjoy this game...

Funny you mentioned that. I got the same exact issue when I tried to play in single monitor res. All the HUD, overlay, and menu elements are all gone. Yet when I alt-tab out and the game plays in the background, it shows up. It even shows up when I played in windowed mode. We'll see if their first update fixes this. If not, we can raise this issue.

Run at a resolution lower than your desktop, such as 4800x900. First thing you'll see is your hud is now nolonger centered.. No problem! Go into your DocumentsBattlefield 3settings folder and open PROF_SAVE_profile in notepad. Change the line "GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 0.800000" to "GstRender.ScreenSafeAreaWidth 0.300000" (30 worked for me)

The ingame screen area does not let you go this low, but you can mod the file and it works. So now I have centered hud and enemy/friendly indicators. A good trade off from native res.. for now.


changing that area width field fixed it for me in windowed mode with my 5850, my hud is now in the middle screen. So...good to go until they get the full screen fixed.

It seems your desktop resolution has an impact on the games interface even if they are different. Try changing your desktop to single screen first, disable eyefinity/surround.

Having the same exact issue, hud icons appear on left monitor only for me. With ATI 6970x2 and catalyst 11.10 preview 3

Using the "workaround" to have a smaller full screen resolution (4800x900) restores the HUD icons, thanks for the tip. Must be a bug of how they integrate the EyeFinity/Nvidia surround APIs.

Same setup here with the same problem. The weird thing about it is that I could see the indicator and name tag before but when I launched it last night it didnt show up. Although the HUD is now centered. Very weird.

I dont know how many rounds I pumped into my teammates. To me it almost seems like there was a minor server side update the HUD sizes.
