If anyone wants to know how to fix "The Dark Mod" :) ...

1) Extract all files (binary.conf & gamex86.dll) from tdm_game01.pk4
2) hack gamex86.dll (Float 9 -> 4 ... four occurrences)
3) create a NEW tdm_game01.pk4 that includes the hacked dll and the original binary.conf
- just use 7zip to create new archive with .zip compression
4) replace the existing (old) pk4 with your new one
5) fix up your DoomConfig.cfg
eg.
seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "5040"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_mode "-1"
5) Presto

Having a modified gamex86.dll in the root dir of "The Dark Mod" DOES NOT WORK ... it is ignored!!!!!

Daemon785 .... sorry ..... didn't mean to exclude you.

Use "opencoop" if you want to play either Doom3 or RoE (the expansion) in coop ... I have it all working perfectly in triple (with heaps of gfx mods)

PM me if you need help.... or anyone else for that matter.

Continuing on MobsterOO7's work, I've made a fix for the opencoop mod by looking at the hex values before the float 9 (in order to filter out the relevant value).

for anyone interested:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=J261A79G (feel free to re-host, i'm not in the habit of hosting files on the web, so I just took the first best service I could find that wouldn't cost me anything :D)

I've tested it with 2 players, one pc with three screens horizontally and seemed fine. There is one catch however, all the players in the server (and the server) need to be working with the same dll's and .pk4 files (apparantly). Which means, the people you are playing with need to have the same fix installed, which is probably not what you want if they don't have the same setup (3 screens wide) . The fix works as the ones described before, by changing the actual aspect ratio of the '16:9' aspect ratio. Which means if the people you want to co-op with have a 16:9 aspect ratio but not a triple screen, they are somewhat screwed (as they need to install the same fix). It might have been better to alter the aspect ratio of 4:3, as it not used as much anymore, but I havent got around to look for it.

Screenie for proof:

Hello everyone,

I have read all the way through this forum and tried everything. I am hoping I can get some help on this. I just bought the quake pack off of steam which includes Quake 4, Doom 3, etc. I cannot for the life of me get Quake to run @ 5760 x 1080 without looking stretched. I have tried changing the custom res in the config file, added a autoexec.cfg file, changed the aspect ration, fov, and used the links to the game000.pk4, gamex86.dll and replaced them in my q4base (also tried marking as read only). I still get the game all stretched out across my displays. I am not sure which version I am using, as I cannot find that information anywhere in steam, but I know it must be the most up-to-date one. As I understand it 5760 x 1080 would be 16 : 3? I don't know what else to try.... any help would be appreciated. Thank you :)

I attached what dll comes with the game. If that helps.

windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
5870 crossfire (tried 1 and 2 cards)

Attached files game000.rar (1.6 MB) gamex86.rar (3.8 MB)

Chad, have you followed all the Detailed Report multi monitor specific solution instructions - http://widescreengamingforum.com/dr/quake-4 , like setting the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 in the config file ?

seta r_aspectRatio "1"

Yes I followed that to a T.

Multi-Monitor Specific Solution
Set the game up for TripleHead as normal ... it is the same as for Widescreen but with TripleHead resolutions ...
IMPORTANT ... set the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 in the config file
(check the WS solution above)
No need to change the FOV as it is automatically corrected ...

To get Quake 4 to work with the game patched to v1.3+ ...
Download my ... rar file from here ... game000.rar
Rename it ... game000.pk4

Go to your ... q4base ... folder and delete the file ... gamex86.dll
Now ...replace your game000.pk4 in the ... q4base ... folder with my version.
That's it play the game with the correct Aspect Ratio ...

Here are the settings copied right out of my .cfg file.

seta r_customHeight "1080"
seta r_customWidth "5760"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_displayRefresh "0"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "1"

The I downloaded the .rar file and renamed it to game000.pk4 and replaced the one in my q4base. I also deleted the gamex86.dll file.

When I load one of my saves it takes FOREVER and finally shows up looking all stretched out :( I am not sure what else to do / try.

K so please try this :

1- Set the aspect ratio to 16:9 in the config file.

2- Download this file (it includes both game000.pk4 and gamex86.dll) and replace it in your Q4 specific folders - (link removed) .
