Unfortunately something got mucked up before you started playing when you took these screenshots. The only thing that worked is the triplehead resolution, the FOV and aspect ratio are still at the default.

Ahh OK, as I said, I really cannot get my head around how triple wide would look on triple square!
I remember the first time I played Doom3 on 3840x1024 (without the mods) and the vertical things at the side of the screens were at almost 45 degrees. If you look at my 2nd screeny on the right the walls edge is straight up and down. So it looked OK to me (spread out but I thought that was to be expected using the old TH res)

Alright scavv, I looked into those files you put up. Only a couple of them had the gamex86.dll file in them so I deleted the ones that didn't. There were multiple instances of the 16-bit float value "16"; I only changed the first one which seemed to have similar surrounding hex values to the steam version. I replaced them with just 3 instead of 3.333. See if this works.

Hi Fellas,

I've tried using the cd files uploaded here with both v1.3 and v1.3.1 of doom 3 (without RoE installed), and the aspect is all short and fat in 5040x1050. This is in XP 32 bit. V1.3 actually runs, v1.3.1 just comes up with the blue "wrong api" pop up.

Am I doing something wrong, or is it just not working?

It should be working...

Did you set the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 in the config file?

Also it is strange that 1.31 does not work: I thought Paddy the Wak recently uploaded patch for the latest version. Maybe I misunderstood.

Hmm. I added seta aspectratio "1" to doomconfig. I downloaded the file with three files inside (the two .pak files and the dll file). D3cdversionfiles I think it's called.

No matter what I do, it's all short and fat? I'm using the CD version by the way.

I have in my config the following:

seta r_customHeight "1050"
seta r_customWidth "5040"
seta r_fullscreen "1"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_aspectRatio "1"

Any help would be much appreciated...

There is two versions of the fix that has those 3 files in it.

The version made for the CD installed game.
and
The version made for the STEAM installed version of the game.

Make sure you downloaded the right version.

Also the fix included a doomconfig file for your resolution. You should try just dropping in that one and see if it works then.

Hi there. Nope there is no doomconfig, just the three files (two pak files and the dll file). I downloaded the CD version, and it just stays squat and stretched...?
