Post subject:  two 5870s, one computer, 3 monitors & 2 projectors = HELP!

Hopefully somebody can help me here. I have a rampage III, 980x, 12 gigs of corsair 2000 DDR3, two Sapphire Toxic 5870 2gb cards, three dell U2410 monitors and two Mitsubishi HC3800 projectors.

Ideally, I would like to have two eyefinity groups on one computer: The three Dell U2410s at 6048x1200 and the two HC3800s at 3840x1080.

However, it seems that you can only have one eyefinity group enabled at a time. I have the three dells on the primary 5870 and the two HC3800s on the second 5870. When I try to create an eyefinity group with the HC3800s it disables my U2410 group and vice versa.

I don't really care if I can only use one group at a time, however, I can not get any kind of stability with the HC3800 group on the second card. When I make the HC3800 (screen 4) the primary and group it with the other HC3800 (screen 5) every game crashes rather quickly, and some games will not even start. So using a two card solution here is absolutely terrible!

I am trying to come up with a solution where I can enjoy eyefinity on my dells or on my HC3800s without having to sell both of my Sapphire Toxic 5870s and pickup one eyefinity 6 card instead. If I got the eyefinity 6 card I would have to go thru the expensive hassle of selling my 5870 Toxics and then buying more display port cables and costly display port to HDMI adapters, which I do not want to do.

I figure I could run everyting on one 5870 if I could get two DVI switcher boxes and run two of my Dell U2410s on setting "A" and both of my HC3800s, on setting "B." Basically, the middle U2410 would be connected by display port and the side U2410s would be connected via the DVI splitter on setting "A." When I want to play eyefinity with the projectors I could simply "switch," both of the DVI splitter boxes to "B" which would disable my side U2410s and enable both of my HC3800s, then I could go into CCC and create my eyefinity group. The problem is, I don't think the splitter box that I am thinking of exists for one DVI input and two DVI outputs! I have found 1 in 2 out DVI splitter boxes, but none of them allow you to disable DVI out "A" while you use DVI out "B." All the splitter boxes that I have found only allow out "A" & "B" to function at the same time and I DO NOT WANT THAT!

DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR??

Thanks!

That's weird 10.6 should allow for more than one eyefinity group AT THE SAME TIME. By chance do you have crossfire enabled? If you do, undo that.

Crossfire is disabled but the crossfire bridge is installed, and I do have 10.6 drivers installed. I am using Windows 7-64bit. I tried to just use one projector off of the second card and it is not stable at all...I also made sure that the fan control was cranked up with both cards, but I still have problems.

I don't know if this is related, but I tried using a projector today, and my card shit bricks. Blue Screen after 10-15 mins. This is using a dp->VGA adapter. I have to keep the projector off my rig or else my system blue screens. I dunno the problem.

Its strange, last week I had two Isival MP720B1 720p LED mini projectors and I was able to run them in an eyefinity group on the second card, however, it blue screened my computer after five minutes. I had worked for a few hours but I could not get it to group the two projectors after the bluescreen crash no matter what I tried. After a few hours of frustration I gave up and just hooked one of the projectors up and would get BSODs randomly.

I sent both of the Isivals back because the picture quality was just to subpar for my tastes and I received my HC3800 yesterday. I am so impressed with the HC3800 that I ordered a second one, however, I made this thread in anticipation of having similar problems that the Isivals were having.

In the meantime I have been playing with one HC3800 and I got a few BSODs today, but then the system seemed to stabilize once I set the primary GPU cards fan to 65% (The primary GPU powers 3 Dell U2410s) and the secondary GPUs fan to 75% (The Second GPU powers the HC3800). I played Crysis for an hour and I played Rise of Flight for about a half hour without a BSOD, so hopefully this success carries over when I get the second projector.

I have another question. When I set the projector to my primary display and go to play a game, my three Dell U2410s stay on displaying the windows desktop. In a projector room, lighting is crucial and having the three U2410s on takes away from my projectors image quality. When I manually turn the U2410s off it causes all hell to break loose and my system drops whatever game I am playing and goes thru all of the automatic driver test crap because the display count has changed. Its a real pain in the ass, is there anyway to get the other monitors to shut off when I am playing on my projector?
