Im rewriting this in the hope someone replies.

Im trying to do 5040x1050. My monitors support 1680x1050 individually, they are all the same brand/model. Belinea 22" widescreen ones

I am using Vista x64 and an Nvidia GeForce 275 ..and i am following the guide for getting 5040 to work.

I tested a custom res without fiddling with the timings.. It said test failed, but all 3 displays worked whilst the "Test Failed, click ok to continue" dialog box was up..
- So it can support it, im going to have a search around here because i read a post earlier where someone had -exactly- the problem

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
According to the other poster, Mach pants.. its to do with the driver, so as per his thread/posts, i installed the old 182.50 Vista drivers.. and gave the beta Powerdesk a shot.

Now, using the old Nvidia CP and actually changing the timings, i no longer get the test-failed dialog at all, it just does nothing but black screens with the out of range.. Which is odd, so installing the old Nvidia drivers for me has actually made the situation worse i think, because no matter the timings i put in, it doesnt want to do it..

The most frustrating part about all of this, is there is no clear way to see what, if anything, is improving the situation..
Anyone see anything obvious im doing wrong?

This whole topic is here because im an idiot..

Called matrox support in canada.. and the dude there pointed out:

Because i was using the VGA input, and not the DVI input.. on the TH2go box.. There wasnt enough bandwidth to even display what i wanted, switched over to DVI input and it all works fine now, kinda.
