I'm reading through the list of known monitors and not all are available in Aus, at least not under the same part number.

Any Aussies buy any monitors lately that work?

Looking to buy 8 to 12 of them so hoping to get the right ones. :?

Looking at the Viewsonic VX2240W now, one of the few on the list that I can get in Aus and also seem to have very thin bezel edges, from what I can read.

I can tell you that the Samsung 2243BW's work, they might be EOL though , I bought 3 about 9 months ago.

That's a 16:9 monitor, doesn't the picture look distorted at 1680x1050?

Thanks, although the cheapest they have is twice the price of the ones I am looking at atm, otherwise I'd be keen.

AussieTimmeh,

I'm in OZ and in the same position.

Some months ago I did a review of possible candidates 2009-01. The best 22" widescreeen all round monitor..

In short, I went with three of the viewsonic VX2262wm and continue to be very happy with them. They where good value at $AUD292.

I'm now after another monitor for a friend and no one stocks the VX2262wm.

The following two seem good candidates that are available in OZ:
* VX2268wm. Designed for the gamer. $AUD420
* In the thread linked to above Frag Maniac mentions that the Dell 2209WA is "considered by many to be the best 22" display now, and a bargain being e-IPS at TN prices". Edit: This might be it on the Dell Australia site for $409.

The widely available Viewsonic VX2240W may very well turn out to be good value at around $AUD230. Choice recommend a prior model, the VX2035WM, I love the VX2262wm, but alas monitors from the same manufacturer can be good or bad. Newegg seems to rate the VX2240W 4/5 although I am worried by some reports that you can't turn Dynamic contrast off ...

I have "dynamic contrast" on my VX2262wm. It just seemed like a gimmicky feature that, as the name suggests, changes the contrast depending on context. I didn't like it and turned it off straight away.

Thanks for the info!

I ended up buying 12 of the Viewsonic VX2240Ws. I have been very happy with them, no DoAs in the group.

The bezels are nice and thin for multi-monitor gaming, and the colours and contrast as good as, if not better than, my Benq monitors.

I bought them for only $195AUD a piece, good value for a nice 22inch.

AussieTimmeh, thanks for that. That'll make VX2240W a candidate for my purposes.
