Post subject: | New guy needs help. Troubles with new setup. |
Hello all, I'm new here to the forum and I just setup my TH2Go with 3x dell 2209wa's. My desktop is running at 5040x1050. My unit came with Firmware 2.03.040 which I believe is the latest release as I tried to update the firmware and it gives me a "Invalid Package for the current product. Please select the appropriate package for your Matrox product" error. So I believe my firmware is current. I'm using the beta GXM driver, SGU 2.09 and Nvidia driver WHQL 182.08. However, I'm having some trouble with the desk top management and more trouble with the first several games I've tried so far. I have a ton of questions but I'll try to keep the first few to a minimum. Firstly, can anyone give me a screen shot of what options they have checked in the desktop management tool, especially the option that sends all of your minimized tabs to the center screen. I'm not understanding the options very well, even after I've checked each one to try them out as I go. Also, is it possible to make it so the center screen is the main screen that contains the start menu, etc. so that you don't have to move the cursor from the left screen all the way to the right screen? As far as gaming I started with Bioshock. The max resolution I was able to set was 3840x1024 in game. The screen is extremely stretched. I tried using the FOV hak by Racer_s, but I could not seem to get it to work, or if it was actually running, it didn't feel like it. I tried COD4 as well. The in game options let me choose 5040x1050 but again the game is extremely stretched with poor FOV. Again I tried the FOV hak (patch 1.02 to 1.06, I think) from racer_s, but I could not seem to get it working. Do do open the .exe and keep it open, then start the game? That's what I did, then I hit the * key and then press either + or - and nothing happens. I also tried standard 4:3 and widescreen 16:9 and 16:10. Any suggestions? Crysis-warhead only allows for something like 2048x720? Something close to that. ?? Overlord won't even start. ?? I know this is alot to digest and the questions above are quite open-ended, but it's a start. If anyone could help it would be really appreciated. I've poured over the forums and will continue to do so, but direct help is quite welcome. Thanks. :) |

Thread moved ;) Hi there, that's a long "signature" you got here  A tad too long actually. Please fix it ! There seems to be quite a few problems with your setup. Maybe something was not installed right. What's your graphics card ? OS ? Regarding the centered taskbar, no you can't do that in PowerDesk-SE/GXM. Specific apps like Ultramon might help though. :?: |

Sig changed. Thanks Scav. I've got a GTX 285 and running Vista Ultimate 64. Probably wouldn't be in this situation if I was running XP. :-) I really enjoy Vista 64 and have been running it about a year with zero problems until TH2G came along and smashed my perfect life to bits. Ha. I had ultramon installed and then uninstalled it cause I thought maybe it was causing conflicts somewhere. I'll try installing it again to see if it's usable. That would be a wonderful patch to the TH2G if they could emulate the options offered by ultramon. So, my first post was abit jammed. So maybe we can start with my FOV hak question. For instance, if I'm playing COD4 patch 1.6 do I run the .exe then start the game up or should I run the .exe and close it then start the game up. Also, do I need to move the slider bars to the right or left before I start up the game or will the same menu screen pop up in game if I press *? |

I'd rather start with more general issues, just to be sure everything works as it should. Are you sure GXM is installed & running correctly and your desktop res is 5040x1050 ? Do simple 3D applications like the 3D Text screensaver work ok at that res ? |

I've got GXM 2.4.011 and my desktop is for sure operating at 5040x1050. I've try mattsimis' for 5040x1050 and 180.xx drivers fix. http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/9741 When I open my Custom Resolutions all of the settings are already identical to those provided in the post. However, when I run a test at those settings the test fails and the resolution jumps to something lesser. I have to manually go back into the GXM and set the desktop back to 5040x1050. But like I said COD4, so far of the four I've tested, is the only one that offers 5040x1050 in game. Even then with 5040x1050 selected and any one of the aspect ratios also selected, the game is way stretched and the FOV is way out of whack. Do you think forcing 5040x1050 in the game's config files and/or command lines would work? Don't suppose you know how to do that? I don't. |

Those games that you just mentioned do not have native support for the TH2go. |

Games that do not have native TH2Go support sometimes look stretched when patched by the SGU. Also DX10 games cant run in 5040x1050 and have to go something lower, maybe dependent on what additional res's you have installed. |
