From what I've gathered it would work only if you put the widescreen at the same resolution as the 17" LCD's. All three LCD's must have the same resolution.

All screens need to be the size resolution, and thus the same aspect.

ARE YOU SURE?

i have seen some guys have dissimlar screen size setups..and they seem to run things just fine...

the first link is a guy that has 2x 15" (4:3 aspect) rotated 90 degrees, with a 22" (16:10) widescreen in the middle...

this second ling has a similar setup, but with 17" 4:3 aspexcts on the side, and a 24" wide in the middle...

Your own links answer your own question.

The first is a custom simulator made to support that t-shaped monitor layout.

The 2nd is using softth software that lets you do something similar to the th2g without the hardware at a performance cost but adding flexibility on monitor layout.

If you intend to use a th2g you need 3 screens at identical resolutions.

well, these guys have the 4:3 monitors rotated 90 degrees...

the 17, monitors i intend to get is NOT going to be rotated because the longer edge is bigger than the side edge of the widscreen 22"
...so im just wondering it will WORK CORRECTLY.

once again, it will be 2x 17" 4:3 aspect (NOT ROTATED) with a 20" widescreen.

WILL THIS WORK?

interesting to know that TH2G dosent work with dissimilar monitors....

It should "work," but it will look absolutely terrible. The larger monitor will have to be set to a resolution that the other two monitors can support, thus causing major distortion.

It should, but I don't know anyone who can guarantee. We don't have any experience with the custom solution in your first link. We do our best to support the SoftTH community. You can get just about anything to work there, if you tweak it hard enough and with the performance hit. But Kegetys is best set up to answer questions about his application. I see you have posted the question there:

With regards to the Matrox TH2Go, no it will now work. We will be interested to see what success you have. But, I don't believe anyone here will be comfortable enough to tell you it will work for certain, and green light your new purchase. In theory SoftTH does support the 4x3-16x10-4x3 option, but each setup is unique.

When I first got my original 24" I tried this with 2 17" I had. This will work with SoftTH, but there are issues. Main one being that 1024x1280 doesn't match up all that great with any non-rotated resolution. It does match up close to 1600x1200 or 1920x1200 though. The physical size of a rotated 17" matches up closely with the non-rotated size of a 24". Not going with a 24" in the center screen will make things look awkward. Not sure if a 5:4 display would be the 20" or not. You're also going to run into another problem with rotated displays. Many LCDs have a diffuser layer over the screen that effects the ideal viewing angles. They typically are optimized for wide view in regular orientation but rotated 90 degrees you'll get viewing angle issues with it. I've seen this issue dirrectly with Samsung 17". It's why I scrapped my initial setup with this.

That's not quite true, actually. That is Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark (currently in end-stage beta) and should support monitor setups similar to that for everyone. The details will be clarified at release.
