Anyone willing to try 178.15 as hotshot says? I wish I hadn't emailed Matrox as per Mach1.9pants' request now, their tech support is quickly sapping my will to live! Is there some way of jumping the bottom rung of their tech support?

The "new" GXM is just v.2.3.2.8 with an additional 'DeviceInfo.ini' file. It totally screwed my display w/ forceware 178.13, I could select 5040x1050 but got "out of range" on the three panels and couldn't cancel, so I had to boot into Safe Mode and remove the drivers...

Ah well, downloading 178.15 now...

178.15 + "new" GXM tested under XP, Vista and Vista 64.

-Under XP I had to go into Windows' Advanced Display Properties and check the box to 'Hide modes that this monitor cannot support' before 3x 1680x1050 mode would appear in the GXM list; probably not needed if you never toyed with the checkbox before. Success.

-Under Vista this trick doesn't work. Actually there's even a message in GXM stating that you're limited to 3x 1280x800 with this OS :/ "Forcing" 3x 1680x1050 (i.e select it via Windows' Display Properties slider) result in all my monitors going "out of range" (vert refresh rate = 47 Hz appearently)...

So what ? New drivers, new GXM, new limitation ?? :?

Be my guest, I've had enough. What we need imo is a real new GXM with real support for 5040x1050@57 Hz no matter what... and much-needed fixes (broken bezel management). Until then, I'll use XP for TripleHead and feel cheated that the kickass res won't work on my kickass new OS.

Know what you mean, hence my hesitance! According to Matrox they need to replicate these (ubiquitous) problems before they can solve them(!)

They need to sort out the desktop divider too.

Same error with 178.24 I am afraid. I cannot get anything better than 3840x1024 or 3x1280x800 (or something like that) with the released GXM. I can go 5040 but still get the out of range error with my centre monitor if I try the trial GXM. I am going to email Matrox again and see if we get any more info.

Sounds like a good idea Mach, me trying to add information to your ticket only seemed to confuse them...I got the impression I was talking to people who couldn't possibly help though. :(
