Just be aware that you might have to start some games in single screen mode first, and then choose 5040x1050 in game.

For example, if I start GRID while on a 5040x1050 desktop, it crashes. But if I start GRID while on a single screen (using a profile hotkey to change between triple monitors and a single screen), it loads ok.

For the first run, you then choose 5040x1050 in game, and then the game restarts. For subsequent runs, I always make sure I change the screens to a single screen, then launch the game, which runs in three screens, then back to a single screen when it quits out.

Example:
START - 5040x1050 desktop
- hotkey to one single 1680x1050 screen
- start GRID or other problematic games (I do this also for Left 4 Dead)
- game turns on the outside two monitors and I run the game in 5040x1050
- quit game, returns to single screen desktop
- hotkey back to 5040x1050 desktop

Another thing to consider is that if you have started a game and it accidentally saved the resolution as something other than what your monitors can support, it may also just have a black screen or crash. You may need to start the game in safe mode, or if it doesn't have one, find the config file and return the resolution to default.

As a rule of thumb, I ALWAYS start new games from a single screen desktop first, to save potential heartache.

See if either of those helps you out.

FSX won't show 5040 in DX10 mode....

It works for me, when I force Vsync on in the Nvidia control panel.

Great idea, but how do you set up a hotkey for that? I cannot figure it out. GXM is a PITA. Thanks for your help.

I am off for the rest of the day. I am about to start breaking stuff because I'm soo pissed off. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day!

Ok, here is a little tutorial for you. I am using Matrox PowerDesk 2.05.0020.

Setting up hotkey to swap between 5040x1050 and 1680x1050

1. Start with your desktop in 5040x1050 mode - which is where you seem to be at now.
2. Open Matrox PowerDesk.
3. Click on MultiDisplay Setup.
4. Expand the GXM Menu (above Mode Management on the right hand side of the window).
5. Select Save/Restore Display Setups.
6. Click Save Setups For All Displays.
7. Name it something like Three or whatever and save it.
8. Click OK and quit out of PowerDesk.
9. Right click on the Windows desktop and navigate to the area where you change the screen resolution (differs depending on which Windows you are using. I think Windows 7 you can select it straight from right clicking on the desktop).
10. Change the resolution from 5040x1050 to 1680x1050 and click OK. Two monitors will blank, only one monitor will remain on. If the monitor that remains on is not the monitor you want to use in single-screen mode, we'll fix that up in an upcoming step.
11. Open PowerDesk again.
12. Click on MultiDisplay Setup.
13. Expand the GXM menu if required.
14. If the monitor that has remained on in single-screen mode is not the one you want to use, click Swap Displays until the correct screen is in use. If it is already correct, proceed to the next step.
15. Click Save/Restore Display Setups.
16. Click Save Setups For All Displays.
17. Name it something like One or whatever and save it.
18. Delete any original setup called Default or Original or whatever it was so only the two profiles you just saved remain.
19. Click OK and quit out of PowerDesk.
20. Open PowerDesk again.
21. Click on Keyboard Shortcuts.
22. Click on the field next to Restore Display Setup and assign a hotkey (ie I use F8 ).
23. Click ok.
24. Quit out of PowerDesk.

Now you can press F8 to toggle between 5040x1050 and 1680x1050.

Here is a little tutorial for setting up Bezel Management too which is a great thing. It basically takes into account the plastic on each side of your monitors so the picture doesn't appear stretched in that area. This comes at the cost of losing an inch or so off the outside edge of each monitor, but is worth it in my opinion.

Setting up Bezel Management and assigning a hotkey

1. Open PowerDesk.
2. Click on MultiDisplay Setup.
3. Expand the GXM menu if required.
4. Click on Bezel Management.
5. Click Use Bezel Management.
6. Change the number of pixels required so that the lines drawn on the screen appear to line up. Note that people have had issues over 80 pixels previously but I haven't. I normally use around 70 pixels as I have thin edges on my monitors.
7. Click OK.
8. Quit out of PowerDesk.
9. Open PowerDesk again.
10. Click on Keyboard Shortcuts.
11. Click on the field next to Bezel Management and assign a hotkey (ie I use F7).
12. Click ok.
13. Quit out of PowerDesk.

You can now toggle Bezel Management on and off via the hotkey. Some games will let you do this in game, others will require you to enable it before starting the game. It'll soon become apparent.

Ok, I did that and got it working, but now when I swap back to 5040x1050 I get a message that says...

"This display mode is currently unsuported, and can't be applied. Make sure the display mode is supported by your matrox product..."

I have to go back to nvidia to get it back working again.

This has to be why it is not working. Matrox is not regognizing that I have 5040x1050 working, so it is not talking with the games properly.

I think a call to Matrox is in order!

Only thing I can suggest is use the non-Matrox way of setting it to 5040x1050 and try re-saving the Three (or whatever you called your triple monitor profile) profile again in PowerDesk to overwrite whatever you had before.

Otherwise, I'm running out of ideas for you...

I know this is a dumb question, but have you updated the firmware on your TH2Go to the latest Frimware? That may be your issue.s

Tired that but it did not work.

I called matrox, and they said and I quote "we've never seen this problem before."

So what he told me to do was start from scratch again, and install the 191.07 drivers, and the newest 6.025 or whatever matrox software, and of course, I am stuck at 3840x1024 again!

I don't know why I listened.

So here I lay again, hopeless with a $300 piece of machinery that does not work as advertised!

I just emailed Matrox this...

PLEASE INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
(1) MAKE/MODEL OR MOTHERBOARD
EVGA 780i SLI
(2) OPERATING SYSTEM
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit
(3) MATROX DRIVER PACKAGE
v64_gxm-veos_2_06_00_026_whql
(4) DETAILED EXPLANATION FOR CONTACTING US

Firmware version v2.3.40.t6.56
Graphics driver Nvidia 191.07
Monitor make & version Dell E228WFP (2 REV02's, and 1REV01)
CPU make/model Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
Graphics card make/model (2 XFX GTS 250's in SLI) Have alos tried without sli

Deleted old matrox software (that wasnt working anyway), then deleted nvidia's drivers, ran driver sweeper, and cleared temp folders, then rebooted.

Rebooted again

Installed 191.07, rebooted

Installed v64_gxm-veos_2_06_00_026_whql software, and ran wizard for 5040x1050 @57hz, and a windows error occured. Tried @60hz...same thing.

What gives? I really need this to work 3840x1028 is killing me. Seriously, if I am going to pay $300 for something that doesnt work, I should be shot!

Am I doing anything wrong? Any suggestions?

Thanks

Alright. I got it working this morning thanks to this thread.
http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/11526#comment-199260

I am using the newest GXM software and 182.50

FSX works with DX10 @5040x1050, and shift works flawlessy!

Only crazy thing was when GXM applied the settings my screens went blank.

Had to hard restart it with the button on the case, and when it came back up all was well.

5040x1050 @59hz!!!!!

Only sucky part is that aero doesnt work, but I can deal with that. Thanks to everyone who tried helping me.
