Hey all, looking for advice.
I'm in the market to update my monitor. My 27" Asus from a couple years ago bit the proverbial bullet, so I am thinking about upgrades. I have a couple lines of thinking and I keep talking myself out of each of them, so I am hoping I can hear from some others that may have done one/two/all of the potential buy options I have been thinking of.

Current video solution is Crossfire 290 cards, so resolution is not a problem.
I have sensitive eyes, and have been reading that the 60Hz vs 144Hz refresh rate will help that. I remember in CRT days I'd have to bump it above 70Hz to remove the eye strain. Is this the same thing?

1) 4K, single monitor, 27"-28" :
Pros: Pixel density, billions of colors, gaming that is supposedly mind blowing:
Cons: Dot pitch and font size. Possibly adjustable in OS, but have heard mixed results. While gaming is important, I also want browsing/content reading/Office apps to be useful. Is 4k as a desktop monitor overkill? Is the refresh problem (60-144Hz) also an issue with 4k?

2) 3 x 27" monitor (1920x1080) using Eyefinity - BenQ GL2760H Was considering this to ease the font and web browsing comfort of my eyes. May use these in landscape or portrait mode, and combine them all into one massive desktop.
Pros: Massive desktop, and easier to read.
Cons: More complicated than 4k, will have to deal with bezel correction, these are 60Hz monitors (potential eye strain depending on what is answered above.

3) 3 x 24" gaming monitor (1920x1080) using Eyefinity, 144Hz -
24" gaming monitors, depending how hard you price compare and shop, can be a wash with the 27" options I noted above, so cost is not a huge increase. triple monitor Eyefinity across 1920x1080 will see equivalent desktop space as the 27" solution above.
Pros: This will take up less space, but offer a higher refresh rate (and the value of that is to be defined on whether ot not 60 vs 144 is an eye strain reliever). Same pros as 3 x 27 above.
Cons : Same as 3 x 27" above.

So, in a nutshell, I want more resolution, I want great gaming performance, and good 2D desktop usage for web. I just need some people that may have done any of these setups to chime in with your experiences. I also posted this question over at Hardforums so that I can potentially get as much feedback as possible.

Thanks All!

I assume you got 3 of them? :)

Good luck on getting 144FPS with two 290s I normally get 45-60fps on mine..... But I'm a quality whore xD if not everything is cranked up to the maximum I'm disappointed.

Would be great to hear some feedback about the BenQ motion Blur feature once you have the system up an running!
