Post subject:  amd recomendation for tripple eyefinity setup

I'm building a new system for gaming, workstation and multifunction type stuff and I have three SAMSUNG SYNCMASTER 2333SW 23" 1920 x 1080 monitors that have been running off my XFX 5870, i7 920 1366 in eyefinity for some time now.

I'm looking for recommendations for an AMD solution for these panels that will handle demanding games like Far Cry 3 at good settings with higher frame rates.
Will a 7870 handle it or more likely a 7970 or two 7850s in crossfire? Anything higher is too expensive for me right now but I am interested in what people think.

Thanks

i even get problems with 2 7970 in Far cry 3 on very high settings.

i heard the 7970 just had a price drop?
your chance!

i cannot recommend Crossfire if there is a more powerful single gpu card aviable.

Hey Haldi,

Do you get crazy-bad microstutter on Far Cry 3 in Crossfire? It's the only game I've run in to that microstutter makes unplayable on my 2 crossfired 7950s, and I was just wondering if your issues with it were similar. The only way it's playable for me in Eyefinity and Crossfire is to use something like MSI Afterburner to limit the FPS.

Can't wait until AMD releases Phase 2 of the 13.8 beta driver to see if frame pacing fixes it.

huh... seems like i never made any graph for Far cry 3.... i have solid 40-50 fps, the stuttering can be seen but its not really a problem.
Crysis3 with 37-40 fps is way worse in micro stutter.

Would probably be too expensive but check this out....

There is a TOXIC edition also with slightly higher clocks (1100-1150 i think)
Largest single AMD GPU solution so far....(Plenty of VRAM for multi monitor)
And has FLEX so no tearing (Can use 2xDVI with the HDMI)
