Post subject:  can't get third monitor to work

i just bought a third monitor and no matter what i do i can't get it to extend to the third monitor i says (unable save display settings) and i can't even find ti in the ccc

i have a asus directCU 2 redeon HD 7870
1 DVI to DVI monitor
1 HDMI to HDMI monitor
1 active DP to DVI monitor

any input would be appreciated.

You sure its an active adapter? The screen works if you unplug the HDMI monitor?

yes when i unplug the HDMI monitor the third screen comes on

I'm inclined to agree with this statement.

What is the adapter you're using? Can you upload a picture or link to the adapter?

so the one i had was indeed a passive adapter when i got the active one the third worked right away ty for all your help and your time :D
