finally got eyefinity set up (after replacing an 'incompatible monitor :o' and now have the urge to add our tv as a fourth screen for the sake of watching movies.

my current setup is

DVI > viewsonic
DVI> viewsonic
minidp > minidp-to-DVI-active-adaptor > AOC

I now have a spare HDMI and miniDP port on my card.

I understand that one of the little tricks that amd cards are able to do is to send the sound to the monitor that the video is on.

am I able to set up so that if I drag a vlc window onto the big screen the sound will come out of those speakers? and if so, how?

it's not the end of the world if I can't, I'm still wanting to know how to get it running whether or not I can be fancy with the audio.

Thanks in advance :)

and thanks to all those who have helped so far too :)

yes that should work! you can use HDMI and put the Sound out via HDMI. But normally you put your whole sound output via HDMI. I think I heard of some software that let split audio sources into channels so you might be able to split VLC source into HDMI sound out.

but you can't run 2x dvi + HDMI. so you will need an mDP to DVI Adapter!

I've used both HDMI and DP for audio out. You select it as the sound source in audio properties. Doesn't even require the window to be on that particular screen.
