Hi,
I have XFX HD5850

From left to right
DVI -> VGA : 1024*768
DP -> Wicked Wired Active DP to DVI adaptor -> DVI : 1920*1200
DVI: 1280*1024

The issue is whenever I shut down for more than 2 hours, when I boot up again, the DP cannot be recognized. I have to replug the DP adaptor in order for it to recognize.
It becomes extremely annoying as every day I got home I have to bend down below my desk and replug the dp at the back.

Tried all sorts of USB port, onboard, pci, external, don't seem to be power issue
updated drivers, bios, motherboard bios, nothing changed

Motherboard: Asus P5B Premium Vista Edition

I am running out of options to test, please provide suggestions/solutions...

Thank you

I find that I have to power cycle my adapters constantly. Since I plugged each one into my monitors usb hubs, it's as easy of turning off my monitors.

I've actually had the same problem. I have a different brand of adapter, but it seems to be the same type. (Mine's an XFX.) Sometimes, it would recognize my monitor, but there would be issues. I wouldn't be able to change the resolution to anything higher than 1024x768, it would act like the monitor was disconnected when I'd go to boot up a game...could never tell if it was my card of the adapter that was shitting the bed.

It seems to work when you don't turn off for long periods, so I guess the DP on the card is fine.

When you say you have to replug the adaptor, do you unplug its power connection (USB) or the DP cable from the graphics card?

And does the adaptor get any power from the motherboard when the power is turned off (does a USB mobile phone charge from the same USB socket when PC is turned off?)
