Post subject:  7950 Xfire Eyefinity Help

I'm sure there is an answer on this forum but I've been desperately googling everywhere to find the answer.

I bought two 7950's , was previously running 2 5850's and a 5870 to run 3 Asus vh238 monitors.

I mistakenly assumed the mini display port to dvi cables would allow me to do eyefinity. At the suggesion of another forum people said these cards still need active display port monitors and I purchased two of these.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814999034

It had good reviews, I realize there is no power support usb dongle but thought it would work.

I've tried these in many configurations. I was told in order to make them work I'd have to use them with hdmi, someone else said DVI. Another post said usb to dvi adapter.

I don't think it matters but the motherboard is an asus p6t6ws revolution. I'm dying to get some eyefinity action going and just wondering if anyone knows what it takes to get this configuration going.

I've got
2x hdmi cables
2 mini display port to dvi cables (the ones that came with the card)
2 active mini display port to dvi cables, the sapphire one I linked above.
3 dvi cables.
hdmi to DvI adapter

Anyone tell me if those should be enough to make this work or any tips? I'd love to get this stuff going.

Post subject:  so, you're running 2 7950 in

so, you're running 2 7950 in Crossfire = all Cables to one Card.

You have 1DVI, 1HDMI, 2x MiniDP on a HD7950 Card.

one DVI goes Native. and then 2 Active miniDP to DVI adapters. So you get 3 Monitors connected by DVI. Where's the problem? (try these shipped with the card)

The miniDP to DVI Adapters that are sent with the HD7970 (at least this one from Sapphire) are Active Adapters! Nowadays you don't need an USB Powered active adapter anymore!
If i'm not wrong you also had a HDMI->DVI adapter shipped. right ? Should work also, but i'd go with 2x MiniDP->DVI if that works.

Btw, whats the difference from the "miniDP-->DVI Adapters" that came shipped with the card and the one you bought extra? None?

Greetings Haldi

Post subject:  I agree, connect two monitors

I agree, connect two monitors via miniDP to DVI adapters and one via DVI natively to you top card. This should work. Check if you monitors are recognized in windows. Make sure that your center monitor is connected via miniDP since than you would only get tearing one screen (the native DVI one). If this does not work, please explain a bit more about what you are doing and what kind of errors/problems you are getting.
