Post subject: | Crossfire+Eyefinity woes |
So basicaly, my combo of eyefinity and crossfire never work. In fact, my combo of just crossfire usually doesn't work. For example, I tried booting up BF3 in crossfire and eyefinity (the game i believe supports both) and it always crashes. It always crashes my display driver as well, it will stop then start, but if i try and run the game again I will get a static screen with lines then a bluescreen. Other games such as skyrim also act like this. Whenever I cant get my corssfire and eyefinity working I always try to just run one monitor by disconnecting the other two, but it always seems to be crossfire thats the problem. I have only two rational explanations, either that its my monitor connections (two mini-displayport to VGA and one DVI->VGA adpater), or that some power the be doesn't want this to work. or possibly that since on of my cards is a black edition, the difference in clockspeed is screwing the sync up. Things I have tried Cleaning my drivers Disabling ULPS Re seating my cards closing MSI Afterburner (which never helps) Specs: Win 7 Ultimate 64bit 8gb DDR3 ram 6870 xfx black edition (stock overclock) 6870 xfx (no overclock) 890fxa-gd65 mainbord Phenom x4 955 CPU (no overclock) |

Post subject: | What driver version are you |
What driver version are you using? Do both cards work alone? As in, connect one only, does it work? Connect the other, does that work? With both 1 screen and 3. What are you using to power that setup? You don't have a "monster" PC but 2 of any graphics cards require at least a good 600W power supply really, for things to work smoothly for the foreseeable future. |

Sorry forgot to include that 11.11 drivers with CAP2 and a corsair tx750 PSU, and yes both cards can work separately. |

but still why is it I can get crossfire and eyefinity working sometimes but usually I can't? if it doesn't work why would it sometimes work when I don't change anything? |

6870 xfx black edition (stock overclock) I'm pretty sure that's your problem. I may be wrong (as I don't have Crossfire myself), but I believe that in order for it to work properly, the clock and memory frequencies of both cards in the setup need to be the same. Try overclocking the standard card or underclocking the Black Edition (BE) card. Personally I would try underclocking the BE first, less heat that way. |

Im with Priox on this one, I also believe the different clock speeds are causing this. Give it a try, let us know how it goes. |
