Hello,
I wanted to upgrade my gaming rig (for BF3 ofcourse! :rockout ) and was weighing my options. Currently theres a single 5870 installed in my machine.

Question here is should I get an extra 5870 to crossfire or should I purchase a single 6950?

I really try to shy away from multiple card setups but an extra 5870 will only cost me $180. Judging from this comparison it seems I would currently get about double the FPS I get now, and its number 3 on the list ( benchmarked with Metro 2033 in DX11) compared with other CF setups.

Especially interested in what you guys who have 5870 CF setup in Eyefinity mode have to say.

Thanks Guys!

Errrm...seems theres no way to find a 5870 for a decent price on the web, man these are in high demand!

Anyone have any alternatives?

I went from a single 5870 1gb to a 6950 2gb (modded to 6970) , and the improvement wasn't tolo super, otherthan having twice teh vram to allow for higher AA. X-fired 5870s would certainly be faster.

Ibrin did a series of benchmarks on those cards which can be found ... well, somewhere on the site. Therwe used to be a link at top-right, but seems to have vanished...

In any case, you;d be better off with another 5870. Especially if it's that much cheaper.

Thanks Abram,
I was ready to go in with the Crossfire 5870 but realized I was looking at at a 6870 even though I clearly searched for "5870" :(

You cant find the 5870 anywhere, and when you do its usually about 300-500$

Amazon's been doing that to me lately, I'm guessing it's just bad search tags submitted by customers.

All the benchmarks and reviews are under "Articles". Need to add them under Hardware in the menu as well.
