I previously had an ATI 5850 along with 2 monitors connected with DVI then used a passive Display port to VGA adaptor to get my third monitor working. This all worked fine. Now i have just changed to an ATI 6970 and my adaptor no did the job since it only features mini display port. So instead i purchased a Mini display port to VGA adaptor and now when i boot up my computer my 3rd monitor will not function. When starting windows the one with VGA and the one with DVI show the loading windows then once booted up only the 2 connected with DVI work correctly. What are my options? 1) Will an Active Mini display port to DVI adaptor fix this? ( If so which is best one to purchase for the job in UK ) 2) Will using my *old* adaptor perhaps fix the problem and simply purchase a mini Display port to Display port cable? 3) Can anyone else make some suggestions? |

1 and 2 will probably suffice. I'd go with 2 first unless you really want DVI picture quality. |

I missed this post, and started my own thread soz. But yes it is the same here, DP to VGA does not work with the 69xx series (confirmed with myself and mate on 6950s and then when hacked to 6970s) My mate is going to try a single link aple passive miniDP to DVI and see if that works, other ise we will get an active one. Bugger I am stuck on 2 screens! http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=21797 |
