Well, I'm getting to the point I'm probably going to be ordering monitors for Eyefinity in the next 2-7 days or so. I've done quite a bit of research, and have determined with my budget, I have 2 options: 1) Get 3x Asus VH236H's from Newegg. They'd be $160 each shipped, and I could send in for $40 worth of rebates after that. 2) Get 1x Dell U2311H ($280 at Dell right now) for the center monitor, and get 2x Asus VH236H's for the side panels. Option 1 totals ~$500 with the monitors and the DP adapter I'd need. Option 2 totals ~$600 I know the Dell U2311H is an IPS monitor, and higher quality overall, which is why I'm considering it, but I don't think I can afford to get 3 of them right now. Would it look very bad/inconsistent to have the U2311H as a center monitor in Eyefinity to the point it'd be better just to go with 3x Asus VH236H's for the sake of uniformity? FYI I'm running an i7 920 @ 4.0GHZ, and 2x 6870's in Crossfire. My current monitor is a 37" Westinghouse LVM-37w3 which is an S-MVA panel. |

It's a tough call. Do you want bezel compensation?...The monitors will need to be the same for that. :? |

It's a tough call. Do you want bezel compensation?...The monitors will need to be the same for that. :? Really? I didn't know that... I figured as long as they were all the same size, and resolution you could do it... As for whether or not I'd be using it, I don't know yet. It's something I'd have to play around with and decide if I like it or not. I guess if the monitors have to be exactly the same for it to work, I'd probably go with 3x Asus. I like the idea of things transitioning more naturally, but I don't like the idea of part of the image being "hidden" under the bezels. |

The monitors need to be the same for bezel compensation to work in EyeFinity. AMD's rep on the forum did explain why, but I forget exactly - it's to do with EDID reporting to the driver IIRC. |

I'm having a very similar predicament right now. Anyone recommend some good monitors in his budget? Right now I have a 2407WFP. I could probably pick up 2 more 2407WFP's for $400 more but are those good enough for Eyefinity? Is it better to go with what Newegg has on it's site now for $200ish each on 3x? |

the other thing to consider when using different monitors is the feeling of 'symmetry' on your desktop. i ran a mismatched config briefly and it threw me off because one of them was slightly shorter than the others even though same purported size. the resolution of course was the same. personally, i would get 3 of the same monitors. i have both the TN as well as the IPS ones. Personally, for gaming, I can't tell the difference. |

I'm not saying I want 3 different monitors anywhere... just asking if going with Dell 2407WFP's are okay, or is it better to get 3x new monitors on Newegg for $200 each? |

If it were my call based only on the options you've listed, I'd go for the ASUS monitors on Newegg. Simply due to them having the HDMI input while the Dell does not. I think you'd be happier in the long run. Here's why: I have my 3x1 Eyefinity setup using the DP-VGA adapter and then the two DVI inputs on my other two monitors. I also have my XBOX 360 connected using HDMI to my center screen. It's a snap to go from PC gaming to XBOX 360 gaming this way and I never have to leave my chair. |

maybe i got the posts confused. i had (3) 21" 16:9 Dell 2210s. i went to (3) 24" 16:10 Del 2407s. I like the 2407s much better. Much higher quality monitor. Also the 16:9 x 3 in landscape mode is too skinny in my opinion . |

Ok, well I think I've *probably* made up my mind to get 3x Dell U2211h's... Yeah, they're a little smaller than the U2311H, but at $200 a piece, I can give up 1.5"... Plus, their viewable width almost matches my 37" viewable height perfectly, so if AMD decides to officially allow Portrait-Landscape-Portrait setups, I'd be set to use them with my 37". Even if not, I could play around with it as people have gotten it working running programs/games in windowed mode if I wanted to try. http://cgi.ebay.com/UltraSharp-U2211H-21-5-Widescreen-Flat-Panel-Display-/320627453458?pt=Computer_Monitors&hash=item4aa6e2ae12 $200 each from Dell's official Ebay Store I think it's worth the extra ~$40 over the Asus monitors for their image quality and the fact they have very flexible stands with good adjustment options. Only costs ~$100 more than the Asus monitors would. HDMI is not a big deal for me at all since I already have a 37" HDTV I use for my consoles, I'll only be using DVI and DP on the Dells. |
