I have a Radeon 6870 card and am wondering if I can run this card with 4 monitors, such that I can use a hotkey to switch between a profile running a 3-monitor Eyefinity group (for gaming) and a 1-monitor profile for work/internet? The 3-monitor group is in a driving simulation cockpit, while the single monitor would be in a different part of the room. I'd like to be able to fire up the PC and then use a hotkey to switch between the 2 output styles.

If a hotkey cannot be used, perhaps there is some sort of physical switch I could use to change the center screen from the Eyefinity center screen to the work screen?

Thanks for any advice!

It sounds very possible.

This indeed can be achieved using the profiles in the ATI Catalyst Control Center, it will allow you to set a shortcut on the desktop and also even a keyboard hotkey :)

When creating each profile just be sure to check the options to setup the shortcut or hotkey :)

Thankyou! And just to be sure, the monitor which runs by itself would need to be connected to one of the two Displayport outputs, right? Or could it be connected to the HDMI output?

My Eyefinity group uses DVI, DVI, Displayport. That leaves a HDMI and a 2nd Displayport unused for the 4th monitor that would work by itself. I'd love to not have to buy another Displayport-to-DVI adapter...

Well I tried adding the 4th monitor to the HDMI output on the 6870 graphics card and although it appears in the CCC, it is labelled as "Disabled". There doesn't appear to be any way to create a new Profile or get any sort of output with just this single monitor. Do you think it will work if I attach the monitor to the mini-Displayport output instead? I haven't tried it yet because I'd need to buy an additional pair of adapters to convert this to DVI. Thanks!
