Post subject:  Single 5850 in Eyefinity?

How well single 5850 will run Eyefinity on 5760x1080 (3x1920x1080)? Has somebody same kind of setup?

I'm getting DP->VGA adapter that should work, but what's the difference with the quality. Isn't really noticeable?

Here's the card that I'm getting - PowerColor PCS+ HD5850 1GB GDDR5 (CALL OF DUTY Edition) http://www.powercolor.com/global/products_features.asp?id=235. It has had quite nice reviews like this: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Powercolor/HD_5850_PCS_Plus/33.html Editor's Choice for being quiet and yet OC'd.

I was facing the same situation as you. I have the same Powercolor card as well (see my specs in sig).

I have decided that my HD5850 will struggle if it has to drive 3 HD screens so Im just going to add another 1050 X 1680 screen to my setup.

Some numbers I had think about:

Total pixels 3x1920x1080 = 6,220,800
Total pixels 3X1050X1680 = 5,292,000

So if I got 3 HD screens the Powercolor HD5850 will have to process 928,800 extra pixels.

The suggestions I got if I WANTED to use 3 HD screens is to get another HD5850 and have a Crossfire setup.

Yeah it'll eat up 15% more performance if it's all about pixels, but I just got my system up. 5760x1080. If it gets painful, then I'll get another 5850, but for now it'll do.

This is so f*cking neat! :rockout

Far Cry 2 runs pretty well, everything full except AA and it hardly lags at all. :)

Can I run Starcraft 2 in Eyefinity? For me it shows 3x same picture without option to select 5760 resolution.

And about VGA image quality, I can't the difference and it is SHARP.

That looks awesome :rockout

What are the outer monitors....I like how they look...I like the stands!

I hope it works out for you and if it struggling you can add another 5850. Unfortunately for me my motherboard will not let me add another card. But I dont mind really...I am about to order my Dell monitor. Will post a pic as well

Thats good to know...and no problems with using the DisplayPort--->VGA adapter?

My HD 5770 is able to do very well with 3x1 24 inch 1080p with Bezel Compensation and running at about 6048x1080.

Far Cry 2, Star Trek Online, and Alpha Protocol run very smooth.

The outer monitors are the cheapest 23" Acer screens I found, X233H.

And about the adapter, my boss in job was asking the very same question and here is my answer "I had NOT a single problem because of the adapter.". The only thing that took me a while, was to find instructions how to setup Eyefinity via Control Center and even that was easy. I could do the same from scratch right now in two minutes. :)

I'm amazed about the performance. It runs as smoothly as with my old 4850 in 1920x1080. I could even run AvP3 in Eyefinity with DX11 (incl. tesselation) on, just textures on High and AA off. No problems. As Dyre Straits said, Far Cry 2 runs beautifully and is a nice game to showoff to your friends about your system. Looks cool and plays nicely everything maxed out.

Haven't tried Crysis or ArmA2 yet and I'm quite sure that those games won't run that nicely. Metro 2033 was also very heavy with high details, but that's because the shitty PhysX I bet.

Overall, I'm very pleased with my setup. I always though that having Surround setup would be "nice to have" thing, but I was enormously surprised about the experience. It really feels like you'd in the game.

Eyefinity is working perfectly and I'm currently going through old games, but new games like Mafia 2 demo made me wonder would it be possible to get Eyefinity+PhysX working in Win7 for me. :)

So, I might be a bit power hungry, but I just got old 8600GT when I sold away my old 4850 to my bro. I tried couple of tutorials how it suppose to get it working but I failed. Does anybody have experience on that or is it just overkill? :D

Does anyone run 5850s in Crossfire with Eyefinity? It seems to be a logical upgrade path for those of us with one 5850, but who want to go Eyefinity. I haven't been able to find any first hand reports on how two 5850s run on Eyefinity.

Just played Just Cause 2 for a while and I have to say it's wastly overrated schaisse. The gameplay is so worse compared to Bionic Commando and the graphics aren't really that outstanding. Dissapointed. :(
