Click Here Multi-monitor gaming is hardly uncommon these days, but 3D gaming on the PC is, well, decidedly less common. Perhaps it will be the merging of the two immersive approaches that finally gets 3D going on the PC, and Sapphire is showing that it's possible. A single ATI-based Sapphire graphics card with Eyefinity support powered these three Zalman Trimon 3D displays, which use simple (and cheap) polarized glasses to make those boomers in Left4Dead really pop. No word on the overall cost of the system, but we'd hazard a guess it wouldn't be significantly higher than a triple-monitor setup woefully stuck in just two dimensions. Interesting. |

I've seen reviews on this monitor, it has a 10 Degree Horizontal viewing angle, or something similar when using 3D. It's good in theory, but most people complain about having stiff necks because they keep their head steady to get the 3D to work. |

I'm searching around; seeing if this is possible. Right now I'm running a hd5870 w/ 3:1 Eyefinity. But I'm wondering if get in to 3d gaming using my ati card and Eyefinity. Is it as simple as getting 3- 3d monitors (I'm looking at 3 of these http://www.amazon.com/Acer-GD235HZbid-Widescreen-23-6-Display/dp/B0035KC3R0/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1282147870&sr=1-1 ), a pair of 3d glasses, and, of course, a game supporting 3d. Everything I see now is "Nvidia 3d", but that link above suggests 3d can be done with ati. |

Be careful, as far as I know, this Zalman 3D monitor cuts vertical resolution in half when using 3D mode, so resolution would be 1920x540. |

Fixed.. this Zalman 3D monitor cuts vertical resolution in half when using 3D mode, so resolution would be 840x1050. A horizontal cut would be 1680x525. Also the monitor linked uses 1680x1050 not 1920x1080 :) |

A horizontal cut would be 1680x525. Are you sure?. I read it here. Powered by a single SAPPHIRE graphics card with ATI Eyefinity support, the display comprised three Zalman Trimon 3D monitors side by side to provide a display area of 5760 x 1080 pixels. 3D support was added by running an additional 3D driver from third party iZ3D in addition to the ATI Catalyst suite |

Are you sure?. I read it here. If you click the link to the Zalmon monitor that is mentioned in the article that the op links to... http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/17/zalmans-zm-m2020w-trimon-3d-monitor-gets-reviewed/ The company's latest 22-incher not only packs a 1,680 x 1,050 resolution The 2 news articles conflict, the article linked to by the OP from engadget claims to use a zalmon monitor that is of 16:10 ratio and 1680x1050 resolution. The article you link to claims the display is running at 5760x1080 which would indeed indicate a resolution of 1920x1080 per monitor. I get the impression that maybe the 1st article is wrong/the link to the monitors used is pointing to the wrong zalmon product, as the product image does differ to that of the triple screen setup. |

You are right, but I have found original Sapphire press release and it talks about 1080p, so I'm guessing those are new, unreleased Zalmann monitors. |

The Zalman's in the Elite Bastards link do appear to be different than the Zalman ZM-M2020W review. |

OK, so in that case then, the resolution is not cut in half as it uses the 120hz shutter glasses, not the polerized ones that work with polerized displays that may split the resolution in half something of which I was not aware, but it does make some sense. |
