Unfortuanatly, they dont work for everyone.
very choppy and crashes with the 8.74 with my dual 5970's or even with 1 5970 and an 5870. on both of my game rigs.

But glad to hear they work for you, so there may be some hope for us.

What mobo are you using?

Ditto on the mobo request...this is VERY interesting, indeed.

I have been waiting VERY patiently to add at least a 5850 to my 5970, if not another 5970 for quadfire. Could REALLY use the added horsepower for the uber Eyefinity resolutions!

Don't wanna' get too excited, but a glimmer of hope is better than nothing!

Come on ATI- how about a little good news???

In what PCI-E slots did you put your cards? It seems you have 4 slots and should use the upper 2?
Otherwise 16x-8x-8x-8x?

**EDIT** Erm, you should NOT use the upper 2 but upper then leave one in between..

I guess you already know this, just a hint..

using slots 1 and 3 which are the 16x slots, desent leave much room, but i have the fans set to manual ans there are 7 case fans including the huge top one, top card still gets up to 90'c or so

Are you running an additional GPU (or two) along with your Sapphire 5970? I ask since you seemed to indicate these enabled Crossfire/Eyefinity, but only saw the one card in your rig description. (Of course the 5970 is crossfire, but that card has pretty much worked since the beginning...it's beyond 2 GPUs where the problems begin.)

Sorry is I misunderstood...I REEEEAAALLLLY want to believe this is working now... I am needing some extra GPU muscle for Eyefinity+newer games like Metro 2033/BC2/AVP+cranked up eye candy! :rockout

My rig:
i7920 @ 4.01 GHZ
1200 watt PSU
Diamond 5970 OC @ 850/1050
OCZ Vertex SSD boot/1TB Caviar Blk data
6GB Mushkin
MSI Eclipse Plus mobo
Thermaltake Armor +
3 x Dell IPS 22" Eyefinity
Bose Companion 5

Hi

I currently run a 5970 Along side a 5850 in Tri-Fire Crossfire-X

On all drivers bar the 10.x or 8.74 as they are called i cannot use Trifire and Eyefinity.

I would get lock ups, game work only use one GPU... Artifacts on anything is full screen mode.. Stuttering in games... you name it i had it.

The 5970 on its own was perfect.

Since i installed the 10.x or 8.74 drivers i have not seen these issues again.
I can run all my games with all 3 GPU's active and running at around 98%
No artifacts (some on Biosshcok2)
Stuttering Down to very small and unnoticable.
