My DP to VGA Adapter finally arrived, but when I plug it in 1920 x 1080 isn't selectable. :(

It shows

The monitor is a Benq G2220HDA (it has a VGA input only)

When I plug the monitor into one of the DVI sockets on my PC using a VGA>DVI adapter, I can select 1920 x 1080

What to do?

The only common settings between my other two monitors (G2220HD - has DVI inputs) is 1440 x 900 or 1400 x 1050 :(

I have the Apple Active DP adapter. A couple of things that I did that "seemed" to clean up some of the Eyefinity issues:

1) I installed Powerstrip. Mind you, I didn't do anything else after installing it, with regard to Powerstrip configurations. Can't really say that this did the trick, but as I fooled more and more, the available resolutions did start appearing.

2) Those of us with the active adapters have the ability to un-plug the powered USB cable with the adapter, and Eyefinity seems to re-detect the screen. This also has positive side effects on some issues. From your standpoint, I would say pulling the VGA cable out hot isn't a good idea (although I've done it many times without problems) - perhaps powering the screen on and off would have a similar effect?

One more thing. I have a full HD TV plugged into the HDMI port. The ATI card recognizes all four screens at once, however, on the three LCD monitors that I have plugged in, I ALWAYS use the selections from the BASIC desktop area list (not the HDTV list). Only the HDTV uses that particular list in that particular profile.

From what I can understand, the display's EDID is not read through the DP adapter so Win7 isn't detecting that this monitor's native resolution 1920x1080.

I downloaded Monitor Asset Manager 2.4 from EnTech, but it only detects the two monitors plugged into the DVI ports. Checking the Win7 display properties, it calls this monitor a "Generic Non PnP Monitor"

There must be some way of telling Win7 that this monitor is capable of 1920x1080?

You can install a EDID Mask, there's a thread on how to do it.

If you need anyother help with Eyefinity here's the breakdown.

What is the most important of a VGA GPU or the manufacturing brand? I've got a low Branded VGA called Eagle coz a coudnt find a better recommended brand of the 9600GT model !! I had to spend bout 140$ on it bt wat to do? So what I want to know is do the VGA card brand effect on the graphical & accuracy or speed of the VGA or only the chipset is important in that issue??
