3Watt power consumption if idle in crossfire :love:
3GB Vram :love:

btw, found some nice slides bout Eyefinity

and CF EF

Hope they got rid of micro lags.

Greetings Haldi

I was really hoping the 7000 series would bring enough power that 1 card would make the majority of games playable in eyefinity. They are saying it will take 2 and thats much larger an investment than most people can afford (myself included)

I was hoping that selling the 5870 and saving up could get me close enough to get just one.

What's interesting to me before buying, are the following two things:

1)
Did AMD solve the tearing issue on one monitor when connecting three monitors (over adapters)?
The 7970 will have a DVI, HDMI and DP port with the respective adapters delivered, so they are marketing for a 3-DVI setup. BUT is the tearing fixed?
(For the 6000 Series they came up with the Flex cards, which have yet to prove that they solve the issue! - correct me if I'm wrong here)

2)
Is Crossfire's micro-stuttering resolved or at least lessened?

As long as those two things (especially the first issue) aren't clarified, the better solution for high performance widescreen-gaming is - in my opinion - SLIing two GTX580 3GB, even if that comes with a higher total cost than a single 7970, but less hassle!

... and a HDMI to DVI adapter, which allows to connect in total three DVI screens to the three video outputs, correct?

DVI --> DVI
HDMI --> Adapter --> DVI
DP --> Adapter --> DVI

I just wish they had any 3 same inputs. I don't have tearing on my setup because every input is the same, using the same adapters, and same displays.

EDIT: Another Question though, Since the 7970 can do 3 GHz does that mean we can finally run a 30" or 27" (2560x1600 or x1440) over HDMI?

3x miniDP will be awesum

thin cables and smaller mess than DVI or regular hdmi cables when using 3x lcd/tv

anyway, if they will not release MST hubs soon, where are daisychain DP monitors

At this late in the game I believe DP 1.2 MST Hubs are a myth only real in spec form. Noone wants to manufacture them. Frankly I'm surprised Matrox hasn't addressed it though as to still be meaningful with Eyefinity setups instead of being cut out of the loop by them. It's definitely a short-sighted missed opportunity for them as Matrox is ideally positioned to produce those DP 1.2 MST Hubs as a GXM product. I think lost pride is holding them back though with what Eyefinity did in the face of the GXM product line.
