I really don't know what to advise but I am not personally a fan of a card with 2 cores on it, it is like an "all eggs in 1 basket" and I know the reference design 5970 has limited performance because of how hot the voltage regulator gets, as in, the default/ reference heatsink is poorly designed.

As I said before, if you can, I would wait for the new ATi cards to emerge.
