Eyefinity doesn't work with some builds of W7 RC. Try Vista or any non-RC W7 builds.

So I guess sometimes support rep's advice is pretty good eh? :) You should always give it a shot, no matter how 'lame' it seems...Coulda saved yourself a lot of time :onethumb

I love it when people just don't want to hear
I worked as phone computer support so I know what it's like

either way I really bow down before jayhigh
because most won't admit they were wrong when they are
so... hats off man ;)

like this:
user - hello my computer doesn't work
tech - what happens ?
user - my monitor is black when I push the power button
tech - 100% black, nothing's displayed at all ?
user - well yeah it's black, but there's some characters
tech - ho, ok what's written ?
user - Please insert bootable disk and press any key
tech - ha ! well, could you please remove the floppy disk in your floppy drive ?
user - but there's no floppy in the drive
tech - (sensing the reply was a bit too fast, so maybe the user didn't verify) ha really ? are you sure?
user - yes, I didn't put any.
tech - (diplomatic) but maybe someone else could have inserted one ?
user - no I'm the only one using this computer
tech - hum ok maybe the computer believes there is one when there isn't any, so we need to reset this. take another floppy.
user - (after some time rummaging) ok
tech - put it in
user - humpf, I ... can't ... insert it, it seems....
tech - (plays a role)hum ok, press the button as if you would like to eject a floppy, even if we know that there isn't any.

bip bip bip (phone hanged)

of course that was my first couple of calls about then. after that you learn how to diplomatically avoid any such issues and finish the call faster by avoiding to make the user say things that you know are wrong but that he doesn't yet.

none the less, the tech's response was lame,

his actual words were...

"Matrox products are not supported. Use the final none beta OS if you want Eyefinity to work correctly."

i was tech support, and i know an onset of a shrug off..

he could have made it a little cleared than that, like, Win 7 RC build does NOT work, please use a RTM or retail version...

anyways, im glad YOU guys helped me figure it out...

maybe... but maybe his sentence was more exact and he stuck to that
between "does not work"
and "is not properly supported" there's a world apart
maybe some RC builds actually work or maybe not...

ho well it's not that important anyway.
enjoy your setup ;)
