So I know this thread is a little old, but I've been messing with this on windows 7 X64 and when I create the .inf file for my monitor and then try and open it through the update driver window, windows just beeps at me and won't allow me to select it. Am I missing something? It's not even throwing an error at me, it's just not allowing me to click ok.

Hi guys, Thanks for your contribution on fixing the this resolution issue. Like many others, I am desperately looking to get my 2209WA work @75Hz. However, it appears to be impossible for me to achieve that. I am using the Ati Radeon HD5570 graphic card and Win 7 Ultimate 64bit. I have tried to make a custom driver using MonInfo and Phoenix EDID and I've been following the steps above. However, the 75Hz didn't show up after loading up the modified driver. So, I think that I am either missing something here or the trick doesn't really work on my hardware configuration. I would very much appreciate your help with this matter. Thank you.

You could try the driver I made for the 2209WA it works for me. http://www.divshare.com/download/9633708-e3e

Install using Device Manager right click on monitor and Update Driver.
Restart PC after install to apply change.

Many thaks for the link. I have tried to download the driver but for some reason the download doesn't want to start. I am not sure what is the problem as I'm getting no messages or pop-ups. Is there any chance you can email the driver to me. That would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

i am using my 5870 eyefinity6 with a bunch of video digital to analog converters which have their own EDID, with a maximum of 1080p at 60hz
the problem obviously is that i have to manually select the correct resolution for the actual displays i am using.... in this case, they are 1024x768 projectors

unfortunately, the eyefinity resolutions available to me are only based on 800x600, 1600x900, and 1080p ... i would really like to get resolutions like 2048x768 or 3072x768, or any of the other resolutions really in case i come across some slightly higher-res analog displays....

Hello All,

I have read the guide over and over downloaded all the needed items but still can't figure out how to make an EDID.inf

I need to make my eyefinity see two monitors at 1440x1050 and odd resolution i know.

Any help would be great thanks

Hi Guys,

I'm pretty new to this forum but just bought a 6870 and found interesting resources here.
Just trying to figure out if it's possible to do a eyefinity group that would match my config with the trick described on page 1?

Here is my config:
Screen1: 1600x1200
Screen2: 1920x1200
Screen3: 1600x1200

So far, what I have is only 4800x1200, wondering if I could have 5120x1200 instead...
Thanks for your help!

Hi,

I am a new user that works on a research project with the ATI Eyefinity 6 and 4 Mitsubishi XD600 projectors (two on active two on passive VGA adapters) with nativ 1024x768 resolution. I want to make one big screen with 4096x768 with HDMI or if necessary VGA cables.

The only result I got from the Eyefinity Group was an image of 4 times 1600x1200 = 6400x1200. This is according to the posts above because the EDID gives this as biggest possible resolution on VGA cable. (This I try first). What I was missing in the posts is, that you can by default not override the EDID, because Windows 7 (maybe other then XP) takes the EPROM EDID directly from the projector and you can not trick it.....unless you pull out PIN 12 of the VGA-cable. Thats what I did and by doing so I killed the DDC-infos that were communicating the resolutions.

Next I followed all the steps described above, but could not get the 4096x768. The only resolution left in Windows screen manager were 800x600 and 1024x768.

Now, believe it or not, Eyefinity group this time did not take the biggest resolution possible, but the smallest. So I ended up with 800x600 x 4 = 3200x600.

I could not believe it. Now my question is, can you help me to fix this, please.
Did I possibly do the Phoenix file wrong? Were does the 800x600 comes from? I only left 1024x768 in the new created .inf, I think.
To me this is strange, maybe you could help?

Many greetings,
Stefan

Okay, I registered to post this.
As we all have seen, ATi have gone against us even harder to prevent this trick from working... However, on the horizon we have new weapons in the war we can use...
Genetix have a modified Catalyst build, and this one seems to change a few things regarding how ATi reads things: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=322616
Bezel compensation doesn't seem to stick past a restart but it does respond to the monitor driver change with EDID override and the GPU scaling trick.
At least with the old CCC panel it does so for me.
I am on 1x BenQ G2412HD and 2x BenQ G2420HD which are about 10mm difference in size at the same resolution, but enough to make AMD say no no and try to force me to buy another monitor...
