Hi guys, i need help trying to build this setup.

- 5 LG LCD 42 inch tv´s
- 2 Asus Direct cu II 6970 in crossfire

I have a couple of doubts with how exactly i must connect the tv´s and what active adaptors i need.

http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH6970_DCII2DI4S2GD5/#overview

As you can see, the 6970 has 4 displayports, 1 DVI SL and 1 DVI DL. If i use 4 active Displayport to HDMI adapters and 1 DVI to HDMI cable to connect to the tv´s eyefinity must work right?
There is the alternative to use DP to vga´s but i think i would lose quality in the process.

This is the only card that i can get with the enough ports to do a 5x1 setup, eyefinity edition cards or even the 6990 are impossible to get in my country.

Please can anyone helpme to confirm this will work, i need to get those adapters ASAP :(

Thx in advance!

EDIT: In the search for the DP to HDMI adapter i found that in amd´s website there is listed only passive adapters like this one. http://www.dinosaurcabels.com/DisplayPort-Male-TO-HDMI-Female-Adapter-with-Latch-Passive-5850019-048-R.htm

So i guess there is only passive for DP to HDMI right?

You use DP-to-DVI active adapters then use DVI-to-HDMI cables. Why are you using 42" HDTVs? Could you better explain your end-use?

It´s for an expo, it only last 3 days and this is one of the major atractions of the company that i work. The whole idea was inspired by this setup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNkDX2pcg0U

So with what you said i would need 4 DP to DVI I active adapters and DVI to HDMI cables??? And the 5th monitor directly to a tv with one of those cables too?? Haven´t thought about that :)

As long as i connect all the tv´s to the first card crossfire will work right?

3 DP-to-DVI active adapters and 5 DVI-to-HDMI cables. Be mindful that 5x1 is problematic. Only two available builds of Catalyst drivers are known to work with 5x1. Catalyst 10.12a patch and one of the 11.4 preview versions. Be mindful that there are at least 3 versions of 11.4 preview floating around and only one of those allows 5x1. AMD has not officially supported 5x1 yet although the option is available in those two drivers to the public. Make 100% sure that card is recognized by those drivers or you'll be setting yourself up for an expensive purchasing mistake.

From 10.12a and up all 6000 series is supported, i already got that driver and i´m now searching for the other versions too. :)

The $$$ it´s not a big deal cause the tv´s are send by LG, and most of the cpu parts by their respected brands. The only thing that we have to buy are the 6970´s and the adapters.
In worst case scenario i´ll do a 3x1 setup and the tv´s will be use with another computer i guess. :)

I´m 24days away to this event, next week are arriving the tv´s and some cpu parts, i´ll update with some pics :)

If 10.12a works with the card you should have no issue. I've had my best luck with 10.12a and 5x1.

I can confirm that the 11.8 preview driver released today supports 5x1 eyefinity.

It also fixes the vsync chequerboard bug with dx10/11 games and crossfire-eyefinity. A big plus as it now allows that vertical tearing in portrait mode to be dealt with.

As i promised guys here are a couple of pics that i took today of my first test of the setup. During last week i received all of the important parts for the setup, the monitors, 6970´s and the adapters, so as i wait for the rest of parts of the cpu i decided to give it a shot with a temporary setup just to start testing some games.

Clock is ticking, i´m only 5 days away for the start of the event that´s why i could´nt post this update before, i have more pics and vids too, when i have the time i will post´em all :)
