Right now I have two XFX 7970 Core Edition graphics cards in Crossfire. These cards have two MiniDisplayport, one HDMI, and one DVI outputs. I currently use those cards to push three 30" monitors in Eyefinity at 7680 x 1600.
I'm toying with the idea of getting three additional 30" monitors to put another row of them above my current three for Eyefinity, and have a few questions.
Is there some sort of hub or stream splitter or what have you that can make my Minidisplayports on the 7970s I own connect to six total monitors? Have such things been released yet?
How painful is the middle bezel for gaming? Are there games where it's a relative non-issue? I would think games like Civilization, Everquest 2, and EVE Online wouldn't be so bad with it, but not sure.
Would two 7970s in crossfire even be able to handle crunching full screen games at 7680 x 3200? Adding a third card is not an option for me without buying a new motherboard and case (in other words, a new computer).
One last question, that got me thinking on this. With the "fisheye" effect quite noticeable in a 3x1 setup, would the additional height added to the aspect ratio of a 3x2 setup somewhat correct the fisheye? That is, would the aspect ratio approaching a more normal number make the distortion less apparent?
Thanks for reading and I hope you experts can give me some good advice!
