I can't help but to think that I might have made a mistake buying two 6870s. I think they bench well compared to the 69xx, but can't compare in some games because it only has 1GB of VRAM. What do you guys think? I guess I could still return them, but have I would have to pay a restocking fee.

It depends on your screen resolution and the kind of AA you are running.

I'm running at 5760x1200. I'd like to get the best settings possible, but AA isn't really an issue. I think may return might return my cards and get two 6950s or 6970s.

I was/am kinda in the same boat. I purchased my first one early November, and my 2nd one mid November. I can still return them according to Newegg's 60 day policy, but to be honest, I don't think I'm going to right now, even though I'm about to go Eyefinity with 3x 1080p monitors.

Sure they'd be faster, but for the games I'll be playing, the 6870's are going to be good enough, and I don't want to have to deal with the hassle of packing them up, shipping them out, and waiting for the new cards, plus it'd be at least $100 more if I went 2x 6950's, probably more with shipping and restocking fees.

Plus I already traded my old 4890, so I don't even have a backup card to tide me over unless I took the 9800GT out of my 2nd computer.

I think it's going to come down to what games you're going to play... If it's going to be Metro 2033, and Crysis in Eyefinity, then you'll want the 69xx series. Personally, I'm kind of "Crysised" out until Crysis 2's out. Then, I'm fine with running it on one monitor if I want/need more performance.

In Eyefinity, I'm mostly going to be playing Bad Company 2, COD4, Grid, Dirt 2, NFS: Shift, Arma 2, Source Engine games, Freespace Open, IL2 1946, Lock On: Platinum, DCS Black Shark & A10C, etc, so the 6870's are enough.

That all makes sense. I decided to return my 6870 and buy two 6950s because I would like to play crysis (and cysis 2), Metro 2033, Stalker, and any gaming that might require more vram in the future.

I sold my 5970 for the 1gb vram problem. If u use eyefinity you need 1.5 gb per core or better!
